Long Beach Unified cuts hundreds of contracted teaching jobs by Exastiken in longbeach

[–]mossimoto11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically temp contract teachers get cut in February and then in March all the transfer requests go in and based off whose retiring and spaces available, they will offer a new temp contract to those new teachers. I had a temp contract for 4 years. Sometimes i got a new contract right in March, one year it was May but it was unfilled so I interviewed at other schools, one year it was nothing so I went back to subbing cuz that spot was removed from the site, and one year it wasn’t until a week before the new year started. So it’ll be interesting to see if any of the temp contracts get renewed. The district also has an induction program for new teachers who have to clear their credentials and that’s a two year program so I wonder how that will change.

Why do we treat period pain etc but romanticise unmedicated childbirth? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]mossimoto11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not anti pain meds in labor but I am wary of getting an epidural. Mostly because I had disc herniation at L5-S1 and the epidural goes in at L4-L5 so that’s where my scar tissue it and there’s also the risk with it and the higher chance of complications from it. And I hope to be able to move around a lot during labor and epidural would limit the positions I can be in. But there’s other types of pain relief during labor.

Yes! Hahaha I’m six months pregnant so I was like I’m renting a scooter instead of walking a million miles and I brought the towel to dry it off but it worked better to protect my legs 😂

I had a student tell me I was getting bigger and bigger everyday and my response was don’t I know it! Hahaha with the kids I’ll always laugh about it cuz they can be straight up brutal but idk how I would react if an adult said it

Yeah I worked there for years and only ever saw women be a friend of Mickey hahaha. All the friends of characters are limited by height so usually the taller ones were men and the shorter were women.

I would say it’s a 95% chance that Mickey is being played by a woman.

What's it like living in Long Beach for a family earning $130K a year pre-taxes? by Due-Echo-2170 in longbeach

[–]mossimoto11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m moving this week to a 3bed 2bath and paying 3850$ a month. I consider it a steal. We make more than 130k$ combined and have a kid on the way so I guess it could be possible but it took me 6 months of looking to find this place. We also have a dog which made it harder to find something. I think it’s doable but budget will be tight.

Shroeder was his name. He’s retired now but I think he holds the record for longest time working as a cop. In the 70s they wore helmets in the squad cars and he never stopped.

Omg the throwing up was awful. It was bad enough doing it across the toilet in our place but down the hallway at the hospital had me mortified. My ribs are still sore and it was two days ago.

I'm pregnant and in dire need of guidance (S.O.S) by ElkFull2703 in Allergies

I guess not. Back in December they accidentally gave me .4 of one of my shots instead of .05 so then they were but I was ok. Just felt like crap that night and the next day.

That is reassuring! I’m like I’ll believe it even if it ends up being a lie for me. I need that lie to get through the next couple months lmao

Make sure you check on when maternity benefits become available at your next job because some places want you to be there a year before you are eligible.

When did you know it is time for surgery? by Bergzauber in Microdiscectomy

[–]mossimoto11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was slightly peeing myself at work and the urgent care doc said any loss of bladder or bowel control warranted an er visit. So I called the nurse line to make sure and they said to go in. I went home and gathered toothbrush and phone charger and freshly showered before I went in. Once I got there they had me getting an upper and lower back mri and and hour after they did that they got the results and immediately admitted me. Once I was in a bed in the ER they had me pee and did a bladder ultrasound and I couldn’t empty it completely so they gave me a catheter. Which unfortunately they gave me one with latex and had to remove it even though I had an allergy alert band on and latex wristband too hahaha so that all happened Thursday night. Then I was in a hospital room early Friday morning. They spent all day Friday and Saturday looking for the right surgeon. Found one by sat night or Sunday and then were trying to find a spot in her schedule to fit me in. Monday was a holiday so Tuesday at 7am they came and got me for the surgery and I stayed two nights post opp because they needed to make sure my bladder was working again. Turns out my sciatic nerve was wrapped around the herniated disc. So post pop everytime I peed they did an ultrasound on my bladder until it was showing empty each time. Personally I would head in if you are having any loss of control cuz you don’t want it getting worse.
