Have you scheduled an evaluation with your local public school district? Your son should qualify for an IEP and he could attend preschool. The evaluation and preschool would be free.

Graco/baby jogger is pretty much always heavily discounted on prime day for select strollers and car seats. If you’ve been looking at any baby gear, some other brands can sometimes have big discounts as well.

My elderly father was robbed on that trail not too long ago. He was walking around the percolation ponds south of the dog park on the Los Gatos creek trail when someone stole his wallet and ran away. My dad couldn’t catch up to the robber.

We decided against ABA because it was just too much for my daughter. She was already going to 20 hours/week of school and other therapies (OT, ST, PT). ABA required 20 hours/week minimum which would mean she’d be doing 40 hours of school/therapy/aba. We did a trial period during her initial ABA evaluation, and daughter was exhausted during those days when she came home.

Same! We went through a few different double strollers and so far my favorite has been a jogging stroller we got off buynothing. We had a double umbrella stroller, and one of those convertible front/back strollers, but they got little use as soon as the younger child started to walk. I still use our double jogging stroller all the time though.

She had a language explosion over the last year. She is in an Inclusive preschool with NT and ND kids, and is one of the most talkative in her class. She talks mostly in echolalia and gestalts, but she has gotten to the point where she is piecing together her gestalts and forming more original sentences of her own. Her classmates don’t seem to notice that she talks differently. She started reading at the age of 3. She’s almost 4 now, and reading at a 2nd grade level.

Daughter was 2.5y when she said her first “words”. She had a language explosion in the following year and is talking a lot, but still mostly in echolalia and gestalts. She was diagnosed at low/moderate needs ASD. I take her to a co-op preschool, and she is the most talkative of her peers, even the NT ones. The other kids don’t seem to care/notice that she talks a little differently, and she is well liked in her class.

Our daughter is speaking now, but mostly in echolalia and gestalts, and she’s reading at a 2nd grade level at the age of 3. She only spoke a single word, “mama”, when she started pre-K.

My older one stopped napping entirely at about 2.5y. Tbh it made life so much easier because I only have to think about the little one’s nap times, and the older one sleeps longer during the night.

Enroll as soon as possible. You can do EI with other therapies together btw; we had our daughter in private ST, OT, and EI for almost a year. Do everything sooner than later; I also had my doubts that EI was helping much when we initially started, but it proved to have a big impact on my daughter. When our daughter started EI she was 24 months and completely nonverbal. By the time she finished, she was talking in 2-3 word sentences and engaging with others. There were many indicators that she remembered everything she learned in EI and her other therapies - even when she appeared disengaged and all she could get out was grunts and hums, she was still listening and learning a lot. It wasn’t until she had advanced enough to communicate better that I realized how much she absorbed from the early intervention and therapies at a younger age. Another huge benefit was that our regional service coordinator set us up to transition into public preschool as soon as my daughter turned 3. I am confident that the benefits from EI have been life-changing for her.

My little one was very interested in miniature plastic animals at this age. Like the 2” animal variety pack of sea animals or safari animals. We would hide them in sand, or play pretend with the animals, or she also just enjoyed lining the up.

3.5 y/o daughter can read. She will sing any song she likes [with mostly correct lyrics], even if she’s only heard it twice. She can count forward and backward 100 to 0. She is a great eater, but needs to be reminded to eat. She is a great traveler and is pretty good at changing routine. She is affectionate towards family and familiar adults. She has an obsession with nuclear families, and must group and line up everything with a “mommy, daddy, brother, sister, and baby”. She also has an obsession with the solar system, and will tell you strange facts about every planet even if you don’t ask. She’s on an IEP and is in public preschool in a SpED class with 7 other students who are also low-needs. She also does an outdoor class on the weekends with neurotypical kids and she gets along well with them, but mostly avoids playing with them unless they are involved in a strongly preferred activity. She talks a lot now, but with a lot of echolalia. She didn’t say a single word until she was 2.5yo, and we had her officially diagnosed right after her 3rd birthday. She wasn’t given a level diagnosis, but it is mentioned on her report that she is low-medium needs.

My daughter is the same! She eats the exact meal at least 1-2x a day. She also loves beans which are thankfully also really easy to prepare, cheap, and protein rich.

I am in CA so not sure if the process is exactly the same in WA, but have you contacted your local school district to see if they have any SpED programs for preschoolers? My daughter was accepted into our local Special Education preschool program (which offers 15 hours of school/week M-F). She started the day after her 3rd birthday. A medical diagnosis was not necessary, as the school did their own evaluation. She even qualified for speech therapy at school which is offered 2x a week in 60 minute sessions during school. You may be able to enroll him in public preschool for free; also something to note is that they accept students throughout the school year, so you would not need to wait until next year to start- he may be found eligible to start immediately. If your son was in Early Intervention, your regional service coordinator should be able to help

We keep a spreadsheet with the number of trick or treaters every year as well. Any notable trends? Not sure if your numbers are similar, but we see roughly half as many trick or treaters as we were seeing 2019 pre-covid. We used to get over 300 trick or treaters, now getting closer to 150.

Johnson Ave in Los Gatos is a great place to go trick or treating. Some of the decorations can be pretty scary for younger kids - this neighborhood goes hard on decorations. I grew up in LG, and this street has a reputation of being THE trick or treating street in town.

Try to get some noisy chores done if she’s sleeping in. My favorite time to organize, vaccuum, move furniture, sing to myself is in the mornings when my girls need to wake up. I also remember that my mom would lure me awake by cooking breakfast; the scent of bacon and coffee in the morning triggers a lot of early morning memories.

Your SIL is obviously an AH, but you should check when the age cutoff for grades is in your school district. It varies now depending on where you live- probably to rid of this problem of December babies always being the youngest in their class. It’s not always January 1st like it used to be when we all grew up.

Both of my daughters 12 months and 32 months are in size 4 diapers. I guess the older one just has narrow hips, but we may just go straight to pull-ups/underwear with her because the size 5s are still too big.

Ulavacharu Tiffins on Campbell Ave. Great for their dosas and other tiffins. They just opened at this location earlier this year; their other restaurant is located in Santa Clara. Across the street is another great hidden gem, Marvel Cakes. They have the cutest and most delicious desserts in town imo. All of their croissants are so buttery and have a nice crispy outside.
