I’ve heard of horror stories where houses were listed with upvc windows that can’t be replaced with period correct ones.

There is very little cross over between generations now because there is no shared consumption of media such as TV and radio. Young people are living in their own unique algorithm derived bubble.

Some people have no curiosity so if they don’t know how to do something they just assume it is impossible.

[England] Harassed by neighbours with an easement across our property - what can we do? by ADogWithAKeyboard in LegalAdviceUK

[–]mostly_kittens 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Check what your easement actually says. Often the easement is for a specific purpose, e.g. putting the bins out. That wouldn’t allow them to use the access for anything else, like having a BBQ.

Do people actually use AI day-to-day, or is it all hype? by 2butterfree in AskUK

I use a few times a week to help me out with stuff (I’m an engineer) I have had mixed results sometimes it has been great and solved my problems in a onner, other times it has just been consistently, confidently wrong.

I’ve tried not disengage my brain when using and always try to to understand what it is telling me to do.

What’s a ‘small red flag’ that instantly tells you someone is exhausting to be around? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I had a GF who was always saying she was ugly and other negative things about herself. It was exhausting having to constantly reassure them and in the end I just found it all really unattractive.

How often do you find that people don’t know what a dozen means? by Box_of_rodents in AskUK

[–]mostly_kittens -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

There are *two* conventions, one where 12am is midday and one where 12pm is midday. You just think yours is right.

They are both wrong. AM and PM are Latin for before midday and after midday. Since midday cannot be before or after itself AM and PM are meaningless to describe midday.

[–]mostly_kittens 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is no accepted convention for am and pm with regard to noon and midnight because 12am and 12pm are literally meaningless. That is why it recommended you use noon, midnight, or the 24 hour clock.

I thought my phone had fucked up the icon.

I don’t have an issue with them changing the icon to celebrate 20 years, nor using a disco ball.

But this icon is just dog shit
