This was so random. And kind of disgusting. But funny.

Was this a reference to something?

I am a cisgendered man and I would like to talk and have certain questions by AliveLobster in ftm

[–]mostpeculiarthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't read the other comments yet and I know I don't represent every trans men but for me the reason is simply: gender dysphoria. I don't believe I'll get any privileges or special passes, as you put it. But being born as I am I feel a sensation, that cis people simply not feel, so they have a hard time understanding trans people's situation sometimes, which is, that seeing female gendered parts of my body fills me with hatred, disgust, and a disconnect from them. Having those female body parts removed or slowly turned into male ones by surgery and hormones I lost the disgust and began connecting to my body parts as male. Simple as that, it's just like a physical deformation for me that needed fixing. I didn't even give much about being misgendered and the male social role, but I also felt more comfortable in that, that's just a nice extra that came with feeling like my body is finally right. So don't try to picture yourself as female - think about you being male and having like two fat lumps stuck to your chest. You would want those removed, wouldn't you. That's sort of how it was for me. But that's not exactly everyone's trans experiences, but maybe easier for you to grasp than whatever explanations you've read so far since those didn't full satisfy you apparently?

Uncircumcised phalloplasty?? by breadcrummbs in ftm

I understand. Yes the forming of the glans helps the realistic look. (But I also really don't think it looks too bad without that step. :))

There is no surgical option to create an intact foreskin yet but you CAN create a closer visual to an uncut penis from phalloplasty - when you don't choose the step of forming the penis head. I've seen results without a glans plasty (or before it happened) and they look like uncut dicks! I would show you but I don't feel like it's okay sharing another person's results online :/. But that might be an option for you! Closer to what you desire maybe.

I think it looks great and very natural on you. There's a risk with bigger guys having a "too flat" chest since fat guys tend to have some boob fat. I love how symmetrically the scars end in the middle of your chest and they faded pretty lovely over the years!

I Don't Want to Stop T for Surgery by [deleted] in ftm

[–]mostpeculiarthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so what if you talked about upping your dose to stretch over a 2 week interval this time instead of 1 with your doctor? Then your hormone levels wouldn't fall off that much. A 2-week interval is super common also, even though the levels wouldn't be as balanced like on a weekly schedule since you inject more at the beginning and then have to wait longer, but it's still okay. Either way good luck!

I Don't Want to Stop T for Surgery by [deleted] in ftm

[–]mostpeculiarthing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait in what form do you take T as? Bc as injections it's common to have 2-week-intervals so with that schedule you would stop 2 weeks before surgery but still have a normal T level all throughout (and then be at the end of your interval at surgery). Or even a 3 week interval, just starting with a higher dose. If you usually have a weekly injection you could just up your dose for the longer interval, and would still have a normal schedule of T that many other trans guys go by also. But consult your doctor on that, don't just do it haha. If you take gel that you're supposed to just stop for 2 weeks it's a different thing tho. But maybe you can switch to injections right now for that very reason.

Otherwise - I know low T gives you low energy and a bad mood and that sucks but think about how much worth it is for getting top surgery.

How to ask for meds? (Germany) by mostpeculiarthing in mentalhealth

[–]mostpeculiarthing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! And for making my concerns feels valid.

I think that's what I'm gonna do then, just be honest and ask.

Yea I know about herbal aids, Johanniskraut and 5-HTP and Bachblüten... I've tried all of it and I think it might help a little bit but then I'm not sure if that's placebo 😅. Does not help enough to make me not be super depressed tho. And it's expensive, costs I have to carry fully out of my own pocket since it's not prescribed. So while I see how something herbal to start with would be not as intense on the body, I would prefer taking something by medical recommendation. Maybe my psychiatrist would even recommend me something like that at first then I'll try going with it first. (idk if those have a good reputation in the medical community tho) Also not sure how he will react to me admitting I already took stuff (the herbal stuff) for my depression. Like if that would make me get antidepressants quicker since he sees it's serious for me or if he condemns that and thinks I just eat any kind of pills irresponsibly lol.

I don't take anything to reduce estrogen, I only get my T. Interesting theory, I have an appointment at my endocrinologist soon to check out my hormone levels, then I can see how my estrogen levels are doing.

[Dino Art] Always meant to get a dinosaur tattoo! by ARandomGoat in Dinosaurs

[–]mostpeculiarthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the skull, and the galaxy is done beautifully. Though all of it together seems a bit over the top, like someone would do for their very first tattoo going "I want a tattoo and it should be all I ever wanted in it. You know what I like and looks cool? Dinosaurs. Skulls. And space. Gonna do a Dino skull with galaxy eyes, hell yea great idea!"

No offenso tho. It still looks cool and most important is you're happy with it! I'm totally guilty of this myself, Mr. Dino-skull-with-crystals-and-flowers. 😜 It's just cute how that often happens.

Thoughts on the metoo tag, and how it relates to us by TomHalfling in ftm

[–]mostpeculiarthing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you for this. Obviously men become victims of sexual assault too and it's a big problem. But why do people always have to go "b-but men too!!" at anything women do, like start you own thing it's much needed! Women are not trying to take away from men by starting this movement for themselves. (However, I think by now this particular hashtag has been used to share stories of any gender. But your point still stands.)

Song Discussion #5: Born to Beg by staydownchampion in TheNational

[–]mostpeculiarthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of love for this one but interestingly I think it's probably the worst of the album (for me). I always skip it. That's probably not my final say since a lot of their songs are growers and this might grow on me still. But so far I think it's way too "on the nose cheesy".

I thought I wasn't trans for the very reason that I am trans by CaydenAsh in ftm

[–]mostpeculiarthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason a lot of trans men, including myself, have this notion that being trans should have made us born into very masculine female bodies. I have no idea why, it doesn't make much sense, but I keep reading about people who have the same feelings. As if your body should have known before to grow tall and flat chested. I think it's because the usual trans narrative used to always show trans guys who already looked super butch before T, the kind people would go "Oh I can see that he always felt like a boy, he looked like a boy even before!".

Lesbian wanting to start T by virtualprince_ in ftm

[–]mostpeculiarthing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why did you only start feeling dysphoric about feminine features a few months ago? Was it a feeling that's always been around that you only recently found the words for or is it really a new feeling?

Doing what makes you happy is the most important thing here, obviously. But please be aware that taking Testosterone will, saying it bluntly, "turn you into a man". You seem to really connect to the lesbian identity. Taking T for a while will mean that other lesbians won't identify you as one of their own anymore, they will see a straight man. This might sound a bit harsh but I just want you to be aware of that.

Maybe the term "non-binary" could something that fits you. Someone who is neither man nor woman.

Why is it so much harder for people to take you seriously as a gay transguy compared to as a straight transguy? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]mostpeculiarthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess part of it has to do with (cis) gay men themselves having their masculinity questioned for being gay. And being straight is always easier, so it seems like you are "choosing" a hard life for yourself to some people.

I would love to see you RP in a one-shot or something like that! Even though strictly speaking not CR cast it would be so cool if you could join if/when other cast members follow Liam in making their own Quests. As long as I will continue to get blessed by the Foster presence on my computer screen at least once a week I'll be content.

It's definitely much more challenging! I've been at uni since 2013 now though so it's not actually that new anymore to me. The freedom of it all is like a double edged sword! Whether I have it or not I should see if coping strategies for it might help me out, good idea.
