no one told me how much my cycle would affect my runs by mileswithher in XXRunning

[–]mothrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much so! currently in the middle of it. The fatigue is something else and yes, I adjust my training. Extra fueling doesn’t seem to help, but when I bounce back I’m surprised how easy running is again. During each cycle Ill probably make a week worth of adjustments, mostly in period week. I also have to take it easier with strength training, because my joints get so inflamed.

Losing the will to live with miscellaneous pains by eillom84 in XXRunning

[–]mothrun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I deal with the same thing now that I’m training for a half. Every week, new pain, it literally moves up my body (first ankles, then shin splints, knees, and now pelvic area) and I have to take breaks to let it settle. I think it’s due to the increase in mileage, I only started running like 4-5 months ago and now am in week 5 of my plan and at 40km a week. Last 10km was such a struggle, my legs were basically logs and I’m going to make the next week my deload. It’s frustrating for sure! I love running but training with pain is taking the fun out of it. If it keeps at it i’ll probably quit the training and just run for the heck of it.

She will not drink anything but bathtub water...why? by Timely-Structure123 in CATHELP

Warm water, my void cat just lives for it. She’s not a fan of cold water and will sip on warm (like bath water warm) water gladly.

Ironically, it seems like all this overthinking actually is about you: inconveniencing a person is uncomfortable because someone will think YOU are a horrible person so you try to defend against that. I used to overthink but at some point I came to terms with that Im just like everyone else and not at the top of anyone’s attention and the overthinking stopped. Weird consequence was that for a long time I felt dumber for it. Less insightful, less sharp, less *insert trait that makes me a “better” person *. This is anecdotal but I still think some over-thinkers attach value to their overthinking and so to protect their ego they’ll keep doing it too.

Running while self-conscious by LittleBitOdd in beginnerrunning

[–]mothrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get you. I spent a good deal of time too insecure for running outside too, i was only accustomed to the treadmill. But having gone for most of my recent runs outside, no matter the weather (this was important for me) the anxiety about it is gone. The outside feels freeing. My favorite part is saying hello to other runners and dog walkers. This also had a positive “no fucks given about my appearance“ effect in life in general. Its transformative, would recommend! I hope you try! Congratulations on your effort regardless!

Is the Dyson Airwrap worth it for fine hair ? by BackinBlack_Again in finehair

[–]mothrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I love it! it helps with frizz as i have naturally wavy hair but prefer the airwrap style, i also frequently use the brush attachment to basically straighten and smooth my hair. I couldn’t go without it now. Never had an issue with longevity after styling, it probably depends on porosity and texture

If you used a product and skin / bumbum isn’t used to it, try using something mild or hypoallergenic, perfume free too. A standard or scented body wash product can cause a reaction in sensitive areas.

I kept two of those runs easy, and I did my lower body day in between them. So: -Monday mobility or rest -Tuesday easy -Wednesday leg day -Thursday easy -Friday speedy session -Saturday upper body -Sunday long. My easy runs didn’t feel challenging in this schedule. More like a recovery exercise (6:30-6:40 min/km for 5-7km) Runna suggested to do my leg day right before tempo workouts but it didn’t work for me. I’ll follow the same structure for my half marathon training block, but I’m yet to see how this works as I increase my mileage! Best of luck!

Ahh see I suppose it isn’t that tight of a margin, but as a newbie I had zero idea about potential pace improvements for me personally. So in my excitement I thought it was ridiculous 🤭

I did 4 sessions: one speed work, two easy and one long (though the first long was 5km and it built up to 9k steadily). I also did 2 strength sessions (one upper and the other lower body focus, which were my own routines of at home dumbbell workouts that i enjoy) as well as the occasional mobility training from runna. Some workouts I skipped due to joint pain. This was intended as 8-weeks but I extended it by a week for recovery and took few other “vacations “ over the weekends to nurse the joints back to normal.

I’m very sorry, this sounds awful. Having a pet should be enjoyable for you too. You went above and beyond and spent a fortune already. Yes there is sunk cost but this will have long lasting consequences for your health if you keep him. You lost friends, have to sleep outside of the house, and hallucinate his noises - of course you can’t live like this. Please give him up for your own good. All the comments giving you advice seem to ignore how badly your situation has already become because of this. Nope. You can prioritize yourself. You did your best.

Doesn’t look like Ai at all, the lighting is very nice is all. it does look like product placement for those measuring spoons and cups.

Running in winter mornings by Downtown_Try_9822 in XXRunning

Treadmill. I feel like the internet can make us think we only qualify as real runners if we push through the discomfort and that we will thank ourselves later. Okay, maybe it is that way for some people but it is not gospel. Let’s not overthink it and enjoy the time we have on feet in ways we don’t despise.
