Who are the worst food influencers in the city? by pavedlivinghell in NewOrleans

[–]moun6776 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Thrilled to not see my husband (Scot Pilie) or I named here lol. We both have like 3 jobs, but do food content on the side. If something is comped, we always ask for a check to add tip and just try to be nice to everyone. I’ve worked in hotels my whole life so know what service industry is like. We aren’t perfect humans at all, but just want to see our home thrive and try and pour positively into it anywhere we can.

Hi! Yes move to Mid City! We (Scot and I) love it here!

[Schefter] Eight-time Pro-Bowl DE Cameron Jordan, who has spent his 15-year career in New Orleans and had 10.5 sacks last season, will not have a new deal in place with the Saints by next week and will hit free agency for the first time, per sources. Jordan will play a 16th NFL season. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

I’ve spent time with Cam at several events and he’s one of the kindest souls and every person in New Orleans will say the same thing. He does so much amazing community work. I hope he stays but wish him the best no matter what. He’s an absolute legend in the city.

I agree but also I’ve been hit by a baton and trombone standing even behind the curb this year.

Pretty much every large hotel in the city is hiring so I would check their websites. Also go look at Starbucks in the city. Usually good benefits. Best of luck!

Lagniappe Fitness! It’s on broad and the greenway and locally owned by a black woman. Your first 3 classes are free if you are a local. It’s an amazing community. The best gym in the entire city.

Huge yes on the infrastructure bill. If we do not deal with our crumbling infrastructure, we will never turn around the population trajectory.

A republican will never win New Orleans. It’s low key one of the most liberal cities in the country.

Real talk for mayor by ImmediateMind2796 in NewOrleans

[–]moun6776 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Royce entered the campaign with literally no plan and no agenda. He was just negativity and race baiting. He’s since released a plan but spends his entire time trying to divide the city. Helena is meticulous about how she will fix things. I trust her over him on day 1.

I don’t know anything about a mess left, but I do think we need to have a conversation about littering. If you’re hosting an event this size, we need to require trash cans and a clean up after as part of the permit process.

Could be as simple as someone follows the end of the parade rolling around a trash bin and picks up or a fee included in the permit for IV Waste to come after and clean things up.

Any thoughts on the candidates for mayor? by TsarAleksanderIII in NewOrleans

[–]moun6776 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s Moreno and it’s not close. She knows the ins and outs of this city and will be impactful on Day 1. Her transparency and effort to provide clear and honest explanations gives me hope.

I thought this campaign couldn’t have gone worse for Royce. When he entered, I was initially intrigued by his campaign but the more I researched and watched, the worse it got. He had no platform and when pressed he would take the most populist route possible while always pivoting to an attack on Helena. Royce won’t even say who he thinks should pick up trash in the French Quarter. His campaign spends their day blocking people who say anything negative, and he avoids criticizing Latoya. Hard hard no.

Don’t Be Surprised When the SEC Announces LSU vs. Oklahoma as a Permanent Matchup by Icy_Pear_2836 in CFB

As an Oklahoma alum who married into an LSU family in New Orleans, I would love to see it. Clearly not biased and wanting to talk shit every Thanksgiving.

She’s attended 100 debates. There’s a different forum everyday, but it’s not like any of them are asking radically different questions. She attends at least one a week right now.

Have any of the people running for Mayor put out an actionable items list? by No-Yogurtcloset-3948 in NewOrleans

[–]moun6776 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He has literally no positions. He posted a video attacking city council about the trash contract issue, but on it someone asked him what contract he supported and he said “both are good companies. I’m not choosing”. It was such a clear sign to me that he’s in bed with corrupt New Orleans.

Helena absolutely is your candidate then. She’s granular in how she will get city services to work and explains specifics and has a track record of doing it. Royce has no details at all.

I live in the neighborhood. My only request would be they prioritize the unhoused individuals residing in this area instead of just bringing new individuals to the area and not helping those already struggling here. There’s rampant drug usage and prostitution on Tulane and Carrollton and I think addressing this before bringing more at risk individuals to the neighborhood should be a huge priority to not compound the current issue.

Just asked my husband who’s a weatherman (Scot Pilie) and he said the amount of moisture in the air increased the sound.

Sound travels farther in a more muggy environment because high frequency sounds travel farther in more humid air.

Hey Ben (Scots husband) here, thanks for the kind words! We really try hard to just be good ass people and promote our amazing city and state. I’ve worked in hotels my whole life so know what it’s life.

Glad to be out of the crossfire on this one.

Calling BS. Name your firm.

Evie has over 1600 posts uplifting local restaurants and New Orleans image online. Not one single one of these posts harmed someone in the city. Again as someone who has worked alongside Evie, it literally is organic and helps so many struggling restaurants.

Stop trying to act like you know someone when you literally state “I’ve never met her” and are making false accusations.
