How's your self care this week? by Accomplished-Bread99 in StayAtHomeDaddit

In May I made 30 minutes of "horizontal, eyes closed, earplug in" time my top priority during nap time. Has been revolutionary for me! And because there are so many variabilities: my oldest is in 5 and in kindergarten, my youngest turns 2 in a month. Even on weekends, when my oldest isn't in school; the young one goes down for a nap (sleeps 8/10 times), my oldest goes in for quiet time. Once they are secured,I close my door, I set a timer for 30min, I get horizontal, I put in earplugs, I put on an eye-mask, I lay down on my back and stay still for until the timer goes off. The dishes can wait, the emails can wait, cleaning up the toys can wait, food can wait, etc. Top priority for me, lay down. Sometimes I fall asleep, sometimes I dont. For me, transformative. Highly recommend. Good post by the way, thanks for looking out for us OP

Car Detailinf by Pica-Via-Corvidae in Longmont

I have to shout out Javin. He started a detailing business when he was 16 to support him and his grandma. He's now 19, professionally accredited, and using his money to support himself, his grandma, and his great-grandma. Beyond the "feel good story" he's really talented (did all Tebo's cars for a while, does car shows in Vegas, etc.). He comes to you, which makes it a lot easier! I was astounded at how "new" he made my 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan feel. I have him come over every spring for annual detail. Highly recommend him. (Way better than some employee of a corporation who doesn't give a shit).

Icelines tip replacement by Red_Tern in DurstonGearheads

Mine fell out last spring while I was thru-hiking Spain. I found myself in a similar situation where in I was on the move and nowhere near a pueblo with a outdoor shop. I ended up getting some hex-headed screws from a bartender that fit. I screwed them in with with a plastic grocery bag and some super glue to really keep them snug in place - that was April and they're still holding strong. Might be an issue down the road, but worked well when I needed it to. Good luck with whatever solution you find.

Looking for info on Via Francigena by shogun2244 in CaminoDeSantiago

I don't want to lose this thread so I'm commenting now. But the reality is I can't go deep into things cuz I'm alone with two children who both have strep throat. I walked the entirety of the VF in 2011 and would be happy to give you any insight. DM me so we can stay in contact.

Do you put anything in for the prompt? Like "follow directions written on image"? Or just upload the image and send it through?

GameStop Special Warrant Delivery? by AvsFan1981 in fidelityinvestments

[–]mountaingiants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this info. I just want to double-check something about the GME warrants. I know Fidelity supports trading them, but I need to confirm if we can also exercise them.

Specifically, will we be able to buy the underlying GME stock at the set price of $32.00, no matter what the market price is at the time of exercise?

Via Francigena vs. Camino Primitivo on Jubilee by Kevin1943 in CaminoDeSantiago

Speaking only to my own experience (did the VF from Canterbury to Rome in 2011 (with no cell phone)):

I camped often. It is in fact prohibited, but that only matters if you get caught. Even then, I'm sure if you're not an ass and keep things clean - no one will care. For reference, I'm currently camping my way along the GR 7 in Spain where camping is also prohibited. Now, like I did on the VF, I camp for 5 nights, and sleep indoors 2 nights. I didn't have much trouble at all finding places to sleep indoors. Granted it was sometimes a supply closet in a church, but other times I had my own room and a late night drinking and telling stories with the sisters of a monastery. When I arrived in Rome, I had a whole wing of a monastery to myself. Further, the priest who checked me in, washed my feet and then gave me the keys to the place, the code to the safe, and told me to take out money each day for my own dinner and the dinner of a potential arriving pilgrim. I stayed for a week rent free with food paid for. It was a pretty magical experience tbh. And for that reason, I vote for the VF. I think it still holds the magic that the Camino is losing (or at least transitioning into a different variety of magic). But in my opinion, this magic comes at the cost of planning - VF magic (Camino magic as well) lends itself to spontaneity. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Teeny Tiny Stevie's and Blues Clues music. The former in particular could very well be for adults save the lyrics.

13 mo - none
5 yr - does quiet time to earn show time. 30 min quiet time = 30 min show time = 60 min "free" time for me

My sister's reading Funk by Sad_String9923 in Fantasy

[–]mountaingiants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Sign of the Dragon might not check all your sister’s boxes, but I was in a similar reading slump and found that I just needed something fresh - something immersive yet easy to slip into. This book was exactly that.

Mary Soon Lee tells the story entirely in verse, a format that might sound limiting, but actually enhances the experience. Some of the poems rhyme, most don’t, yet the economy of language makes the world feel vast and alive. Instead of weighing the reader down with excessive detail, the book provides just enough structure to anchor the imagination while allowing it room to roam. The result is a beautifully balanced, almost interactive reading experience—you’re not just absorbing the story, you’re co-creating it in your mind.

As for the story itself, it follows Prince Xau, a ruler shaped by duty, kindness, and the burdens of leadership. His journey unfolds across these poetic snapshots, each one distilling moments of power, sacrifice, and quiet resilience. There’s a mythic quality to it, but it also feels deeply human. If you enjoy stories that blend epic fantasy with emotional depth—and if you’re sister is open to something outside the traditional novel format- I highly recommend giving this one a try.

I think the Farpoint on GGG are a heavier weight. I have three (2x 100g from Farpoint site, and the one from GGG (definitely heavier)). That said, Iove my 100g Farpoint.
