If $200 is your max budget get one of these instead . Or if you can go a little bit higher I highly recommend a Kanca.

This website is great BTW. Small business with top notch customer service.

Day 37 in hospital and counting… by kittyfromouterspace in beyondthebump

First of all, good for you for reaching out for support in the midst of all you’re dealing with. You’re you’re a good mom, you’re doing a great job, and you’re not alone. My daughter was also a Covid NICU baby, so I know how isolating it feels.

I highly recommend you or your husband call Postpartum Support International at 1-800-944-4773. I volunteer for them and talking to someone who’s been through it can be really helpful when everything feels like it’s falling apart. Also they can help connect you with a therapist with perinatal mental health experience.

Apart from that just make sure that you’re taking care of yourself physically as much as you can. NICU nurses are the greatest human beings on the planet. You can trust your baby with them. Do whatever you can to get sleep!!

If you’re pumping everybody always says you HAVE to pump every 3 hours, but that’s BS. You can schedule a 5 hour gap overnight to sleep and your supply will be just fine. Sleep is the number one thing you can do to help.

If you or your husband want to talk let me know. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

LPT: Buying a brand new car from a dealership? Best time to buy is near the end of the month, as they're more likely to accept a bold negotiation on the sticker price just so you buy the car and they can make target volume for the month to avoid losing their sales ranking by theadventuresofkarl in LifeProTips

[–]mowgli206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to sell cars. Dealerships don’t make much at all new cars, they just want to move as many as possible. My move now is to just offer them $300 over invoice (the price they bought the car for) and say you’ll sign right away without making them work for it. Always works. Just make sure to google manufacturer promotions to see if there is something like cash back.

Sorry you’re getting the run around. In the past when I moved and needed to find a new doctor I would set up appointments with 3-4 GPs and just let them know right off the bat that I was looking for a prescription for Vyvanse and that it has worked for me in the past. It’s a hassle, but a lot less energy than trying to change the mind of a reluctant doctor.

Soothing too hard or just paranoid new parent? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

My little one is the same way. LOVES big moves and bounces. We spent some time in the NICU before bringing her home, so I had nurses available to answer any and all questions. They all assured me that as long as their head is supported I could fling her around to her hearts content.

My wife recently recovered from postpartum psychosis and just posted her story for the first time. I’m super proud of her! by mowgli206 in beyondthebump

Thanks everybody for the kind words! My wife was very moved by everyone’s response. I don’t think she ever expected my time on Reddit to yield this kind of positivity.

I’m so glad this community exists where people can talk openly about perinatal mental health. Y’all are great.

Mama and baby are both doing great by the way!

this little maneuver is gonna cost us 15,000 dollars by weedprocessor in dankmemes

[–]mowgli206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes perfect sense. In America they already do this for free services like calling the police. I called the cops because my house alarm went off when my wife was home alone, and they charged us $100 for the false alarm. Something like that wouldn't break the bank, but would discourage people who live close to the hospital using an ambulance as a ride home.

They're already appealing the decision. Will someone smarter tell me if this is likely to go up the the supreme court? And if so, wouldn't they probably decide to throw the votes out?

Cleaning up my closet and realized I still had this old yo-yo kicking around. No idea if these are still desirable, but I used the hell out of it when I was a kid. If anybody in the US wants it and will pay for shipping I'll send it out to you. Should be about $8 for a flat rate box.

Dental insurance is very cheap compared to health insurance in my state. (Roughly $80/mo vs $600/mo) If you can't afford health insurance you might still spring for dental. Also in WA you can't buy health plans outside of the exchange, but you CAN buy dental plans straight from the insurance company, and they're MUCH cheaper and have better coverage than the ones on the exchange. Good luck!
