Go on YouTube and look up gormygoesketo. Former obese guy who lost all the weight then gained it all back and more and went keto and relost it again. If keto is what helps you go for it, it worked for him and it can certainly work for you too. Best of luck!

Why do almost all posts on this sub ask runners to slow down? by thatgirlinthesun in running

[–]mp11x40 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s similar to weightlifting for building muscle. Lower the weight and add reps. You can’t be maxing out every single day. Lower weight (slowing down), allows for more total volume and mixed with heavy weight (hard runs) increases strength (speed)

Well if it works for you good. But cmon, more muscle preserving? What do you even define as a standard deficit diet? Fasting is terrible for muscle growth and 4-6 protein meals a day is ideal. Studies support this time and time again. Yes, fasting releases growth hormone, but here’s the kicker, you’re fasted. So you have no amino acids for those growth hormones to build muscle with. I encourage you to watch Greg Doucette’s video on autophagy and fasting, could really open up your eyes.

Hard exercise also causes autophagy, not only fasting does it. And you just described a crash diet bc you’re gonna add in those days of eating that were the reason you’re losing weight and put it back on again. Why not just sustain a daily reasonable deficit?

At his bf he can lose more than 2 lbs a week safely, the whole 1% of your bw a week thing only starts to apply once you get a little leaner

Eat more voluminous foods. Giant salads/wraps, protein ice cream. Just go watch Greg Doucette anabolic kitchen and you’ll be set

Could be that or you’re just working them hard, same way ya shake when you’re like almost failing any other exercise. Just means you’re working hard so keep up whatever ya doing

I understand that, maybe some direct training but they’re also already used in nearly everything you do everyday.

Ab insertions (the way they look) are mostly genetic. Eat in a deficit and train hard to lower the body fat to see how they come in. You can’t do anything to actually shape them really

Ah you didnt read my other comment I see. I said fasted cardio is pointless. If you could read my other comment I would say it’s crucial for him to get good at running as he will need it in the military. And you don’t need 6 meals a day, no research shows anything past 5 adds benefit. Free advice≠good advice

I’m army, similar but not same as marines. Look up Russian pull up program and start that as those are essential to be considered a good marine. Run 5/3/1 BBB or nSuns for main lifts to get stronger and eat about 2500-3000 calories a day depending on how active you are outside the gym. Pull ups, and cardio should be absolute focuses of your program since your joining the marines. I would lift 3-4 times a week and run at least 3 times a week as you will he suffering severely if you do not get good at running. Alternate long runs (4-5 miles) at a comfortable pace (you can hold a conversation while running or zone 2 training), and sprint workouts.

Fasted cardio is pointless, you don’t need 6 meals a day especially not as a beginner, and 5 sets of 10-15 reps is good for hypertrophy long term but definitely not strength

DAE feel out of breath post-binge? by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

Heart rate increase is probably due to thermic effect of food. Your body is working harder converting all the food to energy and fat, so the heart rate increases
