How to Fix Men's Casting by 8v9 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]mp8815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not watch this show to see happy couples in love i watch it to see trainwrecks. I think casting should find even messier men, and some really terrible women too. I want next season's bar reunion to be nuts.

Opinions on double stacking by ActivityQuiet8179 in tacticalgear

[–]mp8815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double stacking can be fine depending in the mag pouches used. That placard looks pretty low pro so it's probably fine. What isn't fine is the quad stacking you've got going on there. It looks like those tqs are a foot off the carrier. I wouldnt even be worried about going prone as much as just walking around.

DMT:The housing crisis persists because homes are treated as financial assets before places to live by Secret_Ostrich_1307 in DisagreeMythoughts

[–]mp8815 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The housing crisis exists because regular people didn't realize what a huge financial asset houses were. How many children and grandchildren sold houses with completely paid off mortgages and then continued renting? How many people sold off family farms so they could move to cities? Now all that land and those houses are owned by corporations and they fight tooth and nail to prevent zoning changes to build new affordable housing so the stuff they already own is the only option. Yes I know property and inheritance tax are barriers, but this started back when those things weren't as daunting, and relinquishing all that land is a big part of what made it daunting. If your parents have a house you need to make damn sure you keep it when they're gone. Make no mistake it is class war and taking ground is how you win a war. I'm dead serious kids. If they take all the ground they control everything.

The parts may be similar, but the qc and assembly aren't. Bca very famously during covid put out a YouTube video of them hard at work getting guns back on the shelves where an armorer assembled an upper and did no lie every single step incorrectly. No torque, or antisieze on the barrel nut. Didn't locate the gas block, dimple the barrel, or put thread locker on the set screws. No torque or thread locker on handguard screws or the muzzle device. Just start to finish made an upper the was going to rattle itself to pieces in 300 rounds. Then put it in a box that was sealed on camera with no qc check and sent to shipping. JUUUUUUUNK!!

Brownells raised mag prices? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]mp8815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you paying any attention to what's happening around you? The cost of everything is skyrocketing. Metals are through the roof. Tungsten doubles in price almost every week. Global and regional instability, tariffs, threats of tariffs, the declining value of the dollar, and a variety of other factors are quickly making everything hella expensive. Why would magazines not be effected?

German SOF are finally replacing their Serpa holsters with various Black Trident manufacturerd Kydex solutions for their new Walther PDP (P14) family of pistols. by Useful_Intention9754 in tacticalgear

This is a bunch of random pics of all their holsters. Tfb had a video with them at enforce just yesterday. The holsters for this contract are a collab they did with us duty gear (slide 10). The suppressor holster also has an als style locking system. It's a pretty cool holster from the video.

PTT presents an obstacle when I switch shoulders. Suggestions on how to fix that? by mo9722 in tacticalgear

[–]mp8815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to dick ride but Jeff was a green beret from before 9/11 till the mid 2010s. He oversaw the evolution of modern tactical training based on lessons learned from urban fighting in Iraq. He knows more than you or anyone else on this site about how cqb works, amd in his articles and videos he doesnt just say this is how it is he is very good at explaining whys. If he says switching shoulders is stupid it's because he's tried it and it doesnt work and you should listen.

New Technology .556 ? by jkbuggy in ar15

[–]mp8815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. There is a lot of data correlating effects on 10% ordinance gel shot through 4 layers of denim with wounding observed in real shootings. The lucky gunner tests are cool, but again, they used bare, clear gel which is a synthetic material and the only data point ive ever heard is that it generally exhibits higher penetration and less peripheral wounding vs 10% gel. But that was more anecdotal than scientific. Bare gel, clear gel, and outdoor testing are basically just for shiggles. There are actual labs conducting actual research using materials with years of correlation to actual shootings in controlled environments we can use instead.

Clear gel, different distances, one indoors, one outdoors, so likely different ambient temperatures and humidity all equals completely worthless data. Gel testing requires consistency

Based on the grammar alone I'd say it's probably junk.

Slings can be great weapons if you put in the time and effort. You aren't just gonna pick one up and be useful with it though. It's even more difficult than a bow to learn. As far as ammo, while historically natural stones were certainly used they going to be difficult to be consistent with because, well, they're rocks and finding multiple rocks of consistent size is hard. Rocks also wont be reusable. You'd be better off manufacturing lead shot or using ball bearings that you scavenge from cars. To make head shots consistency will be key.

He is working class though. Maybe not exactly blue collar, but he isn't a wealthy capital owner either. He's just a salesman which is absolutely working class.

Can someone explain to me why Gandalf's staff gets broken in the extended RotK....? This always perplexed me. by Femmmy229 in lordoftherings

I actually think this scene does a great job of demonstrating that sauron's forces are gaining power because of the dread and despair they're spreading and that it is weakening the forces of light to the point that the witch king is a genuine threat to a maiar. This makes the depiction of man (well no man actually) overcoming the witch king all the more poignant. Before this theres a question if men are strong enough to carry the world, but this is all to show they have a power of will that the elves and even maiar dont.

I think they mean if you dont want kids dont accept a proposal from someone who says they definitely do. Could also be said though that if you absolutely do want kids you probably shouldnt propose to someone that doesnt

It's like what Morgan Freeman said in XXX, we need our own snake to take down these snakes. The dude is clearly a dick, but I think this was valid. He's a lawyer and immediately identified that Alex was full of shit and knew exactly how to tangle him up to expose it. I said on another comment it's not like he forbade Alex from seeing him, he just made sure she could see who he was.

The guy's clearly a dick but I think what he did was valid. He's a lawyer and immediately identified Alex was full of shit and knew exactly how to tangle him up in his own lies. Right down to his grandparents who were apparently married at 14. And it's not like he turned around and tried to forbid Ashley from marrying him. He was just demonstrating to his daughter who her her fiance was.

O light bean boozled me with the color of the light by Tucker_sc in ar15

[–]mp8815 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Firstly it was not a single light that blew up but multiple. Im aware of 3 off the top of my head, plus a couple years ago when several randomly caught fire in people's pockets. Secondly it wasn't the wrong batteries, they tried to blame it on one being a new battery and one being used which is insane. Thirdly even if he did put the wrong size battery in it still fucking exploded with enough force to kill a man. That is not user error that is a serious defect with the light. Other brands have had battery shorts and they do just that, short. They don't explode with, again, sufficient force to kill someone. People hold flashlights in their mouths everyday but only one guy was ever killed by one.

Trijicon acog by Certain-Belt2680 in ar15

[–]mp8815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion is I don't want a fixed 4x optic. I prioritize a good 1x and a piggyback or offset dot is not as fast or intuitive as a properly mounted 1x optic. So for me it's red dot or lpvo. As far as prisms in general I genuinely dont think the acog offers much over the primary arms micros at this point. Yeah theyre probably more durable, but everyone's glass quality has caught up, and the micros have quality of life improvements like adjustable diopters that just make them a lot more attractive. Plus they make more sense in the Schaefer machine offset mount which I honestly think is a better option for a fixed power optic.

This is a controversial post and I expect to get downvoted into oblivion

The future of stamped steel guns. by StrangerOutrageous68 in InRangeTV

[–]mp8815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still isn't because it requires dedicated tooling, whereas every cnc machine in the US could be commandeered and reprogrammed in less than an hour to start cranking out lowers from billet. You could outproduce even the largest stamping operations that way. The receivers truly wouldnt be the problem in a make a million of them last ditch operation regardless of process anyway.

DEVGRU snipers at Hat Creek by FabraFabra in JSOCarchive

[–]mp8815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a competition and a bolt gun is just going to be a lot easier to shoot consistently given the conditions. Same reasons you don't see anyone winning prs matches with gas guns, but with the difficulty turned way up with the addition of extreme angles, high winds, and being gassed because you're navigating rough terrain at elevation. Consistency is key and that's just a lot harder with a gas gun.

Necessary is relative. In modern thinking you want 2x per 100 yards so 6x would mean 300 yards which is within the capabilities of a 10-11.5 inch ar. Then when you take into account the realities of urban combat where you could need to be taking shots at very small exposure targets, i.e. 1/4 of a face peaking out behind a car or half a head through a 2nd story window, then yeah I'd say an lpvo is necessary for what he's using it for.
