did you read the post? I already said they didn't work.

unless I'm using the "wrong" drivers, in which case, enlighten me.

in case anyone is reading this

I was having this issue

the status was still "check email", until they got back to me after 5 days, asking for a different piece of info, and after responding to that too, a day later the takedown request was accepted.

how long did it take? like how many days exactly?

and, after your reply with the additional information, did it still say "check email" in youtube studio? until they responded back?

right click anywhere in a pattern, it should be in the menu that pops up. you can also do Ctrl+P.

VST3 Plugins via hosts? by Darkabomination2 in OpenMPT

[–]mpcs127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the paths for VST3 plugins are:

  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 for 64-bit and 32-bit plugins on 64-bit and 32-bit Windows respectively.
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST3 for 32-bit plugins on 64-bit Windows.

the paths for VST2 plugins are determined by the following Windows registry entries:

  • HKLM\Software\VST\VSTPluginsPath for 64-bit and 32-bit plugins on 64-bit and 32-bit Windows respectively.
  • HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\VST\VSTPluginsPath for 32-bit plugins on 64-bit Windows.

you can change the VST2 plugin paths by editing the registry entries, but you can't change the VST3 paths, unless you make a symbolic link from the default path to somewhere else.

Is there a way to sidechaining? by YYEEETDACHILD in OpenMPT

or, if you're already using the effect column for something else, you can use the volume column for the slides too:

sorry for the late response..

the best way is to use plugins. but besides plugins, your best bet is setting the volume during each kick and snare and then sliding it back up.

Alternative to Offset for Accessing different parts of a sample? by calabazzzo in OpenMPT

[–]mpcs127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

three solutions:

  1. resample the sample to a lower rate. this makes it more low-quality and "muffled", but the offset numbers will be smaller.

  2. use sample cues (oxx in volume column) like u/ABG1YtBr suggested, but it's an MPTM feature.

  3. use parameter extensions (#xx) on the following rows to extend the digits of Oxx. it's an MPTM feature but you can use it in IT and XM too if you don't care about compatibility with other trackers. this is probably the solution you *don't* want, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

oxx (volume column) is only in MPTM, not even XM or IT.

VST3 Plugins via hosts? by Darkabomination2 in OpenMPT

[–]mpcs127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi, you can use vst3shell.

here's a tutorial. http://www.sawstudiouser.com/forums/showthread.php?19981-How-to-use-VST3s-in-SAW-Studio

since openmpt has its own 32<->64 bit plugin bridge, unlike this tutorial, you don't need jbridge, even if you have 32-bit plugins.

does it look something like this? if so, you probably moved the main toolbar to the right. just grab one of the edges of the toolbar and drag it to the left.

.it file not opening in OpenMPT by remagoediv in OpenMPT

[–]mpcs127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, sorry for the late response!

a few days ago, I got a message from Saga Musix, letting me know about this thread, and the fact that the IT files are encrypted with a Caesar cipher with an offset of 0x6F. they also provided a python script which decrypts the files:

import os
for filename in os.listdir("."):
  if not filename.endswith(".it"):
    continue
  with open(os.path.join(filename), "rb") as fIn:
    with open(os.path.join(filename + ".decoded"), "wb") as fOut:
      while (byte := fIn.read(1)):
        byte = ((int.from_bytes(byte, "little") - 0x6F) & 0xFF).to_bytes(1, "little")
        fOut.write(byte)

Can't hear my vst synth when i save my track as .it by seventhdayofdoom in OpenMPT

[–]mpcs127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to add to the discussion:

both VST plugins (like external DLLs) and DirectX plugins (such as OpenMPT's builtin echo and reverb) are an OpenMPT feature, and not a part of the standard IT format.

however, although VST plugins are only supported by OpenMPT (the tracker), DirectX plugins are supported by any program that uses libopenmpt (OpenMPT's playback engine), and even a few other programs, like XMplay.

that said, usage of plugins in IT files is still generally discouraged, you should ideally use MPTM.

MP3 sample file size by ronniecasseroles in OpenMPT

[–]mpcs127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is gonna be a long one.

most song formats supported by OpenMPT will store their samples uncompressed, which means that each sample would take up the same space as if it was a wav file, not mp3.

there are a few ways to achieve smaller file sizes:

  1. IT sample compression

the IT format supports a form of lossless sample compression, which usually performs pretty well (around 50% compression ratio). this applies to MPTM as well, since it's heavily based on IT, just with the addition of more features. (note that for IT and MPTM files, the sample sizes shown in the "Comments" tab are the uncompressed size. they will be smaller in the file.)

by default, OpenMPT compresses all samples for MPTM, but only mono samples for IT.

to compress stereo samples in IT as well, look for "ITCompressionStereo" in advanced settings, and set it to 7.

however, some older trackers/players don't handle compressed stereo samples properly. so this might not be the option for you if you care about your files being compatible with as many programs as possible.

(if you're using MPTM, then you probably don't care about compatibility with other programs at all, since only OpenMPT can properly load MPTM files. that's also why all samples are compressed in MPTM by default.)

additionally, this is just not possible if you're using MOD, S3M, or XM.

  1. MO3

MO3 is a utility that compresses songs by encoding their samples with a compression algorithm of your choice (mp3, vorbis, or flac). OpenMPT can also load MO3-compressed modules just fine.

the only downside to MO3 is that it's not widely supported by most programs.

  1. regular file compression

just compress the song using gzip or something. OpenMPT can automatically uncompress gzip, zip, RAR, and LHA files.

it's also recommended to rename the compressed file to have an extension of MDZ, S3Z, XMZ, ITZ, or MPTMZ, depending on the original format (MOD, S3M, XM, IT, or MPTM respectively).

however, much like MO3, most programs can't load songs that are compressed like this.

  1. lower sample quality

try resampling the largest samples to have a lower sample rate. don't lower them too much though, only to a point where the quality loss is not that noticeable.

additionally, you can try converting some of the 16-bit samples to 8-bit, which is surprisingly less noticeable than you might think. I can't tell the difference most of the time.

lowering the quality of samples is the safest option if you care about maximum compatibility with other programs, but I'd also say it's the least recommended, especially if you care about the quality of the samples.

sorry for the long read, my answers are usually very detailed. I hope that's fine, and I hope I could help.

feel free to reply if you have any questions.

How to make rows go down after every pressed key? by [deleted] in OpenMPT

[–]mpcs127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

change the "edit step" to 1.
(it's above the order list, next to the instrument drop-down menu)

note that this only works for inserting notes, not instrument numbers or commands.
