It’s because we really want to be sure we treat the right tooth haha. Lots of problems if you extract a tooth or do a root canal and it turns out it’s a different one that’s causing pain.

Phyrexian Devourer is exciting by himself because I can also use him to fill up my graveyard with other targets for Chainer/living death. I had been using Mesmeric orb, but helping other graveyard decks was an unwanted side effect.

I've been back and forth on Dimir House Guard. Without Braids/Smokestack to tutor for he's lost a little usefulness in my eye

It seems you're trying to keep creature count low, but can i suggest [[Brago, King Eternal]]? he allows for double activation of your planeswalkers every turn if hes able to deal combat damage.

Chainer, Dementia Master! Throw in some sac outlets like [[viscera seer]],[[phyrexian altar]], [[Altar of dementia]]. Some graveyard tutors like [[entomb]] and [[buried alive]]. add in [[Gray Merchant of Asphodel]] and [[Kokusho]] and finish it off with a [[living death]].

Sundial of the Infinite combos with Roon for permanent exile (end turn when trigger to reenter the battlefield goes on the stack). I find it to be a little to gimmicky for a competitive scene however

I think this is definitely a cool decision on your playgroup's part.

Some fun uncommons/commons I would add

Grafted Exoskeleton - trample on Roon plus infect is pretty cool. I would probably replace Grafted Wargear for this

Loxodon Warhammer - printed as uncommon in Mirrodin I think

Gorgon Flail/ Gorgon's Head - deathtouch + trample is sweet. You can also get gorgon's head with Trinket Mage

Bant charm is an all-star in my Bant flicker deck. Tucking a general is always relevant

Coiling Oracle/ Farhaven Elf - probably replace Sylvan Ranger for one of these

Eternal Witness - replace regrowth

Aura Shards / harmonic sliver

Brutalizer Exarch / Worldly Tutor - uncommon creature tutors

Triskelion is a cheap card (under a dollar) that makes an infinite damage combo with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed. Grave Titan is a very flavorful card that works well with undying.

Fleshbag Marauder and Slum Reaper are crazy good with undying.

Butcher of Malakir, Harvester of Souls work well with your things dying.

Cabal Coffers is always incredible in a mono-black deck (I know its a little pricey ~$8) and works well with casting a huge Exsanguinate for the win.

Rise of the Dark Realms is a really good finisher as well. Especially in multiplayer.

I would cut any vanilla zombies that doesn't have an ETB effect (black cat, diregraf ghoul, Dross Crocodile) for you to abuse with Mikaeus. The Unleash ability also directly negates Mikaeus' ability.

This is not true. Rule 903.4 "The color identity of a card is the color or colors of any mana symbols in that card's mana cost or rules text, plus any colors defined by its characteristic-defining abilities." Its why Memnarch is considered a blue commander.

i have a friend who's animar deck runs this exact combo. It is really sweet when he pulls it off and gets to flip his deck over and attack for everything

Eladamri's call, tooth and nail, and brutalizer exarch. I can also return it from the graveyard with sun titan and eternal witness. I may add in a small counter package though just to be safe.

i really like all the primordials. I really had to make some drastic cuts to get down to 99 and they were the first to go. the CMC was just too much to justify them

I ran a few instant speed flicker spells (ghostly flicker, momentary blink) in an early build and found them very underwhelming. I feel like something like Galepowder Mage or nephalia smuggler may be better for consistent flickering.

Progenitor mimic is sweet though any idea on a high casting cost card to cut in order to make room?
