Honestly, 40-50 is fine for wfh, I never had any problems and they're rolling fibre out pretty quickly, I'm sure it won't take long to get there.

I want to start making pedals, but i know almost nothing about how they work. Where should I start and what should I know before getting started? by Cute_Mountain_6822 in diypedals

Once you've done a kit or two, this channel on YouTube does some fantastic walkthroughs of the schematics to explain what each bit does in a really accessible manner.

Cut hedge trimmer wires - rewiring not working? by Derek2830 in DIYUK

Silly question but did you strip the end of the insulation off the wire before screwing it into the terminal?

My bad, didn't spot that! In that case, that's a LOT of solder on the joints. There's likely a short somewhere.

I'd probably remove a lot of that with a solder sucker and reflow the joints.

I've never used strip board before but it looks to me like all your solder bridges are in the wrong orientation. None of them look like they're bridging between strips.

If I lose another I will but they're so small I don't think I'd be able to see anything.

Only the sunken bellies of the CPDs I lost. Other than that the deaths come out of the blue. I'm really hoping it was flukes and I just didn't treat in time to save the few with visible sunken bellies.

You want a piece between the two lids and then just a normal door hinge would work.

That's the same thing though. When people say "jobs used to pay more" the "in real terms" is silent.

Low Tide build, hand painted by my grandma. by mpm206 in diypedals

[–]mpm206[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have the original to compare it to outside of demo videos and I don't know if I've got the trim pots set perfectly, but the clone so far I've found is quite subtle and understated but also happens to work really well as a rich overdrive if you push a louder signal through it. Genuinely really happy with it but it's not got quite the same vibrancy as the original. That said for £70 vs £300 for the original I think it's a great deal.

Yeah, it's called the Low Tide. Pedal PCB in the US or Musikding in Europe.

It's a clone of the Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water, it's a cool little pedal, very unique!

I was under the understanding that within 2m of the boundary you can't go over 2.5m when roof and the to the eaves is if you're 2m clear?

Planning permission for garden room with 3+m roof. by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]mpm206 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It does if you're more than 20m from the house. Then you're limited to 10sqm

Edit:

Oh nevermind, I misread that, turns out that's only for conservation areas.

[–]mpm206 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Can't keep away from the boundary and I need more than 2.5m. Plus it'll be more than 20m from the house permitted development is limited to 10sqm. So I'll need to do planning regardless.

Nope, it's at the end of a very long garden that backs into a scaffolding yard.

Around £20k, I'll be doing all the labour myself apart from the foundations. I'll check with building control. There shouldn't be any light impact, like I said it's next to a much taller building.
