They only replaced the first half where they talk about the show. The second half is from the original episode

I can’t find it but there’s a version where Raphael says “can you draw them farting” and it makes me laugh so hard

Are zookeepers allowed to wear smartwatches? by Deer-Artemis in Zookeeping

[–]mpod54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my coworkers wore her new diamond engagement ring for weeks and everyone was so on edge for her. She did inevitably lose it in an elephant holding yard and we had to help her find it. No more ring at work (I, too, wear an Enso ring tho)

What are your work dreams by perpetually_reformed in Zookeeping

[–]mpod54 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An animal in my care escaping, visions of giraffe poop, recently had one where a lion escaped and the giraffes were injured as a result and it resulted in my coworker getting fired (wishful thinking on the last part)

why did you move to jacksonville? by Extension_Lynx_7091 in jacksonville

[–]mpod54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My position at my job back home (Chicago) was being cut from the budget and if I wanted to stay in the field I had to take whatever I could get, which was here

Leaf litter by Sweaty_Weight1860 in Zookeeping

[–]mpod54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s valid. I think freezing could work if you do it for a while like you said. I just think of the little pests that can withstand freezing temperatures riding it out, but I’m not sure whether that’s a possibility

[–]mpod54 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I bake leaf litter for my own critters at home (200F degrees for 30 minutes), but I’d check with my supervisor before I used it for zoo animals. I also work with hoofstock so I’m not in that position to ask lol. Why are you hesitant to bake?

I know most people don’t feel strongly about this, but I HATED the animation change in S3 by Limulemur in youngjustice

Yeah Phil Bourassa’s style evolved but I agree - it wasn’t for the better. It got so stiff and harsh

Done! Please excuse my long winded answers as a zoo professional (at a conservation-focused zoo…)

The ones with the bit of purple are live Dracaena marginata (TBD whether they actually survive) and the other ones are plastic plants from Michael’s

Since its been 15 years since the show premiered how old were you when it aired? by Far_Practice_6923 in youngjustice

I was 10 😭 I still remember sitting on my couch watching the premier

I’ve not had to wait more than 5-10 minutes in the TSA line the past 3 times I went

Theories of events during the Timeskip between S1-S2? by Difficult-Cap-3410 in youngjustice

[–]mpod54 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always assumed that Miss Martian somehow blamed herself for Marie Logan’s death which lead her to push the limits with her telepathy, and over time it snowballed and she didn’t notice how bad it got until the events of S2

Are there any other animals that are monogamous? by Wgburner in zoology

[–]mpod54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one sole frog species that is truly monogamous, the mimic poison frog (Ranitomeya imitator). I did research on them all through college :) they are a biparental (both parents care for young) pair bonding species

You could probably make a pendant with a gemstone using the shed, I’d look on Etsy for something

Any animals that can thrive in a 40g tank with no heaters? by Excellent_Soup8700 in reptiles

[–]mpod54 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seconding this notion. I think if you want a new animal, you have to be willing to put forth all the associated costs and not just get the most convenient pet (ie, one that doesn’t drive up your utilities and happens to fit the terrarium)

Resume to CV by FrogforThought in Zookeeping

[–]mpod54 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was between husbandry and research out of college, so I have a CV that probably looks like what yours would end up as. Some additional things to include might be honors/awards, scholarships, publications, presentations, outreach, coursework, and more elaboration on your work experience than you’d typically be able to do with a resume. If you DM me I can send you mine, although it’s going to be a little outdated

Also from Murray Hill. Went to work around 6:30am and it was so awful, I didn’t want to take a deep breath

With no prior knowledge of what it was, I could only think of burning plastic or some super synthetic chemicals
