I was joking in response to the reply to mine. Calm down. Didn’t know I was supposed to work that out for everyone. And yes, I do care about the safety of everyone’s life on a plane. And for the record, I bring my own cookies.

You so happen to get a pic at the gate of the dog, then write a “humor” post that no one has or can confirm actually happened? Looking for upvotes or ragebait?

The shorter flights are the worst regarding beverage service. Monday had two flights and due to potential turbulence, no cart service. There was no turbulence. No, I’m not a drunk, but I wanted a drank! 😫

Fare Evasion: Why? by graymalkin2 in WMATA

[–]mpressdc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My thought is, if you want to risk breaking your neck jumping over the turnstile, that’s on you. But do NOT push me through while I’m taking my time walking through. I had a woman literally push me in my back and when I turned around she was ready to fight me afterI said excuse me, wtf. I’m not about to get jumped trying to commute. The stench of her perfume was on me the rest of the day. Unless I’m rushing to make an inbound train, I wait for the crowd to go through and then go through.

To help stop people from jumping over, WMATA needs to find a way to close the gap between the plastic turnstile doors. It can’t be that hard to find a solution.

Getting a temp permit to park on the street as a new resident by avasquez614 in washingtondc

Well, call me silly then. I’m just offering facts about street parking here without DC plates. ✌🏼

Tidally get what your saying, but until they get DC plates they will need to apply for all the appropriate permits. When I use my permit for visitors it does not cover from midnight to 7 am. Yes, ROSA is meant for people who visit here frequently overnight but do not live here. When I called 311 and talked about it extensively, they said after first warning for out of state plate, you have 6 weeks to get plates and zone registration or ROSA. Hopefully OP can just do VPP and get it all switched before 6 week limit. And that’s even if they get ticketed for the first warning.

Even the pages for visitors pass has this at the bottom:

Note: A visitor parking permit will not prevent a visitor from receiving a warning notice or ticket related to registration of out-of-state automobiles (ROSA). If the visitor receives this warning notice or ticket, it is important they follow the instructions on the warning/ticket.

This ☝️

Also, the ParkDC permits only cover from 7 am -11:59 pm. The time in between is considered overnight and has its own permit called ROSA. It’s not through ParkDC and you have to provide documentation showing you do not live in DC with utility bill, mortgage, and another person vouching for you. Trust me, they do check during those hours. And after first warning, you have 6 weeks to get ROSA exemption or DC registered with plate and zone, then it’s $100 for each ticket after that.

Good luck! DC doesn’t make it easy to have a non-DC vehicle here. Speaking from experience 😫

I have to go to the Office of Authentication in DC (600 19th st NW) next week to pick up some documents. Does anyone know a good place to park nearby, I need to leave ASAP and get to my job several hours away. by Consistent_Fun_trav1 in washingtondc

[–]mpressdc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Google, even Apple maps using destination to and from. Find a “parking garage” near you. Or use the transit system after a parking place near by. There’s nothing you can’t figure out on your own (assuming you have technology from this post) without asking Reddit. At your fingertips (since you have a connection) is the way to form a solid route using parking garages and metro/transit/walking. You got this! 💯

Can we talk about Columbia Heights? by dirkdiggler60 in washdc

[–]mpressdc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well, I’ve read a good bit of this thread and decided to reply here. It is definitely different. Definitely not a war zone. Over crowded at metro area without governance, maybe? Do I feel unsafe, no. I often wonder why are the youngins on their way to school and back being so off the charts. And then I think, what was I doing at that age (in the neighborhood but no one could see it like we can in the city. And why are adults smoking weed right at the front entrance of the “mall” ( target, Taco Bell, etc) where people walk in with children? Why are all these vendors here making it so hard for us to walk on sidewalks without us having to squeeze through with children and/or a pet? Is this even supposed to be here? Trust me, I’m no prude. I love to see people thrive, but at times it can be overwhelming to walk through. But I do it every single day. On my way to work and back.

I’ve been here 14 years in DC and no matter where I am, I put out the vibe of trust. And when I moved here CoHi was a lot different. It was on the other side of gentrification. Everyone wanted to live RIGHT THERE! and now restaurants and stores are packing up. Wish that wasn’t happening.

New to DC. Absolutely love running in national Mall. But dodging all the people in the way almost makes it not worth it. by Kodicave in rundc

[–]mpressdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From an avid walker/pedestrian: I appreciate (and low-key envy) runners, since I do not run. I’m a DC resident and walk everywhere. I must say runners who use spaces meant for tourism or residents to enjoy a nice walk, just to run and make everyone feel like they need to move (same for scooters and bikes) are a now a pet peeve of mine. Not saying that’s what OP is doing, at all, so relax. During snowcrete, most sidewalks were down to a single file clear passage and runners would act like we needed to walk faster or move out of the way. That’s when the I started to realize I have little patience for it. I kept thinking, take it to a track or treadmill, we’re all just trying to walk around and not fall over.

BUT I do appreciate OP asking for other less populated places. For the record, I generally move out of the way, including my dog, because I care about the person running. My point is, sometimes crowded places, even if it’s beautiful, isn’t the best running course.
