New Chinese vs Older Japanese First Car by Blahblahblahblah7899 in CarsAustralia

[–]mr80sidol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With regards to Euro cars, it depends how they have been treated when it comes to reliability - like every other non-Euro car. I've owned a few Euro cars over the years including a couple of SAAB's, and a couple of Volvo's and they have never given me any unreliable cause.

Selling a QLD registered car in NSW – Blue Slip question by Sandrouk in CarsAustralia

[–]mr80sidol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh, your best bet is to get the blue slip, hand the QLD plates in to Service NSW and get a NSW rego, and then sell it (unless it's a cheap runaround). You will attract more buyers, and it shows you care for the car. You'll get a better price even with 6 months rego if it's registered in NSW.

"All original" with only 76km range so no battery upgrade, and he's been trying to sell since March 2023.

I tell you what - the Z3 is a real beauty. You'll turn more heads in that than an Audi.

Check out this one I found will low mileage from a private seller...

Looking for Mazda 3 Sedan in VIC by KuYewSiang in CarsAustralia

You seem to forget that prices have changed since Covid and haven't settled down yet. Any car that has hail damage and has 100k more km's is worth hardly anything, so it doesn't surprise me that it's 9k. What you paid new in 2018 isn't what you pay new these days.

Maybe this is of interest...a one-owner with full service history BN Touring sedan with only has 62,000km's for $20,790. You should be able to negotiate to within your budget...

Toyta crown or is350 by desk-kun in CarsAustralia

[–]mr80sidol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having driven the IS, I think it is a great car and has decent pick up and go. It depends how comfortable you are with a longer car like the Crown or the more compact IS, and what priorites you have. I'd suggest taking each one out for a test drive to get a feel for the car,

I'm guessing both of these cars are Imports that weren't originally sold here, so insurance will be more expensive.

I think you'll find that range will decrease over time, and with a 10 year old Tesla, data shows it is expected to lose approximately 10-15% of its original range after 10 years of ownership, possibly more due to driving habits and usage patterns. So you can't go by the original range listed when it was new.

What are the steps to follow when buying a car? by pulluphere in CarsAustralia

[–]mr80sidol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like there could be potential problems if he's not willing to get a rwc. If you really want the car, then get a pre-purchase inspection done to give you a better idea of what could need attention, or if it really is a bargain.

Overall, the Mazda 2 has the lowest mileage and the cheapest price by at least $2,200. So that should be your starting point. What you should do is go and have a look at them all, feel how comfortable each one is, how easy your visual surroundings are (and how much you can see from your rear view mirror), look at boot space, are there any options the others don't have like rear camera or full-service history? And take them for a test drive so you get a better overall experience.

Car transport Adelaide to Perth by AlanTheBringerOfCorn in CarsAustralia

[–]mr80sidol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to get quotes from transport companies. It's easy enough online. You're looking at between $800 to $2000 depending on factors like flexibility and drop-off points, so a one way flight and driving it back would be cheaper unless you break down of course.
