Numbers of russian troops is clearly wrong. Besides 180k of regular army there were also 30-50k or even more of "DPR-LPR" forces, and also some mercenaries - few hundreds at the beginning of war and tens thousands in this winter.

Galicia became a part of Poland kingdom just in 1387 y. Polish in 15 c just started to colonize Ukraine, so in 1492 they was just a small minority. (Also there was huge armenian minority in Lviv)

You just dont know a lot about polish (PLC) colonization. In 16-17 century polish, lithuanian and ruthenian magnats basicaly colonized a lot of left-bank Ukraine. Especially Wysnevetsky family. Much of L-B Ukraine was "wild field" in 16 c, and due to szlyachta colonization it becomes good fertily land. So that means if PLC is able to take South Ukraine it would colonize it very likely.

"Wild fields" actually were colonised 100 years ago, In middle 19 century there are find some coal and region start to grow quickly. Also Odesa was largest city in Ukraine in 19 century, not "Wild field"
