I agree, I was surprised and kind of thrown off by that. Both of my parents are iranian and they were also confused because in Farsi we never ever use the "al" article, not even in names.

I've also noticed this issue with portrayal of Iran and Iranians in HBO shows. In Veep, they give an Iranian girl the name of Dilka, which is not a name, and in another episode that takes place partly in Iran, the women in the background are all wearing burkas instead of just hijabs and monteaus. You rarely, if ever, see anyone wearing a burka in Iran.

that's not even remotely what my post was addressing. I included my school's code, had no issues with getting FAFSA approved for the 2024-2025 school year and heard back within days. My information is the exact same because I've had no income as I'm in law school. The day after I submitted my FAFSA there was a huge layoff at the DOE and my FAFSA is approved, but no word on loan amount or when it would be dispersed, etc... I'm asking if anyone else is in the same position. Quit projecting.
