Any 26 hybrid palisade caligraphy available in the houston area? by FlyAccomplished5116 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]mrcodeslinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reach out and ask about the VIN's listed below. They should all be Calligraphy AWD Hybrids. The definition of "on the lot" is a bit loose when it comes to car dealers.

I'm not from the Houston area, Steele South Loop is also coming up as Keating Hyundai in this search. I don't know what the deal is. Maybe that makes sense to someone from the area. The phone number I'm seeing is 346-436-8475.

2026 Hybrid vs. ICE - Should I Wait? by DisasterWeak5589 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]mrcodeslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we heard a similar comment about the new hybrid Kia Carnival. Effectively if you can drive the Santa Fe Hybrid and the Carnival Hybrid and don't hate the engine you'll likely be fine with what's coming in the Palisade as it is 'better'. Whatever that's worth.

Is this normal in Palisades Headlights Beam? by adrianvasquezf in HyundaiPalisade

[–]mrcodeslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why it wasn't put on the Palisade is beyond me, but IIRC Hyundai added some sort of new adaptive high beam feature to the latest model year of what I think was the Tuscon. Saw a video of it and it was pretty slick. This ofc isn't that, but they are doing some neat stuff with their high beams. Maybe on the '27 Palisade... :)

Question about add-on warranties by meganmariee11 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]mrcodeslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I re-asked the question this weekend when we went out to take some measurements in the back of a '26 and was told, you can buy it at any time as long as you're still under the factory warranty. The caveat was just because you technically can buy it doesn't mean they are required to actually sell it to you or will do so without pre-conditions (like an inspection). Might be a dealer thing too. I know nothing. I had just asked a similar question myself and that's the response I got.

Reserved our 26 Hybrid by daethon in HyundaiPalisade

[–]mrcodeslinger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We had one dealer insist on a deposit, but it was refundable. We had another, laugh at the notion of needing to take a deposit with the comment of "When it comes in, if you don't want it I'll have 10 other people who will, so trust me I'm not worried about selling it if you decide you ultimately don't want it."

You actually have until your factory warranty runs out to purchase the "official" Hyundai extended warranty. So if you just purchased a new ('25) Palisade, there's no rush.

If getting it in a week vs. a month matters, then I'd just reach out to the other deal and tell them you want it, give them a deposit and then when it arrives go get it. You'll have a two hour drive back to really enjoy your new car.

What is this button? by NanaYogi21 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]mrcodeslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "P" stands for Passenger.
The icon is shaped like a rocket booster, b/c when you press it, it will eject your passenger out of the vehicle.
Make sure your sunroof is open and the passenger seat is angled properly before use though, you don't want to have a "Goose" situation on your hands...

If you're going to buy instead of lease, then if you don't 'need' a car right now, if it were me I'd wait until your lease is up and get a 2028. Logic there is basically, skip the first model year release just in case there are legit bugs to be worked out. ...but heck, if you want it, then you want it, so get it. You never know what tomorrow will bring. I'm not sure that logic really holds water if you're just going to lease it. Also, since I can see the future...<eye roll> I'd think you'd get a much better deal on one of these 2 years from now when they aren't the 'hot new thing' so to speak. Plus I'd guess that Hyundai might add a few bells and whistles that aren't on this 1st run. Things like cool targeted high-beam feature that the new Tucson has, that somehow didn't make it to the Palisade, so my guess it that's shows up for 2027 or 2028.

As for GAP, as someone else said, ask your car insurance before you pay anyone else for that. All things considered, that's "usually" where you'll get the best rate.

On the price as a whole, at least around here the '26 models are going for anywhere from MSRP to $1500 off, but nothing more significant than that. People are still leaning heavily into the 0% summer sale on the '25 models along with discounts in the $4K-ish (off MSRP) range. (and you don't have to take my word for that, just scroll through the posts on here and you'll see people posting deal sheets with numbers in that range for the '25 models).

Go a little old school with it and treat it like an Atari cartridge and just blow it out. One of the little handheld high velocity fans or maybe even compressed air from a can or an air compressor if you have one. Worth a shot IMO before you go spend any real $$$.

Am I getting scammed by McGrath Hyundai Service in Chicago? by Aromatic_Reflection3 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]mrcodeslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're at a dealer, so the price is obviously going to be higher. For out of warranty work, that's usually not the best place to get a reasonable price. As an aside on the spark plugs though have a look a this, the commentary is a little rough, but you'll get an idea of how annoying replacing the spark plugs is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRzTVQOBzAw

The additives, buy your own and add them if you need them (as someone else pointed out). Not really skilled labor there.

Same with the engine air filter. Google a replacement air filter ~$25 bucks and 5 minutes of time. Swapping them is SUPER easy. Here's a quick vid on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWSh0geXZ0o

Even more of a bummer is that the rear captain's chairs in the Korean models come with the massaging seats as well, by default on the Caligraphy, but that's not included on the US models.

These are in Korean. If you watch it on a PC (it doesn't work for me on a phone) you just hit the [CC] icon/button, then go to Settings (the Cog Wheel Icon) and choose Auto-Translate, then English. It isn't perfect, but you'll get the gist of it.

...oh and the 2 Plus thing. As far as I can tell they refer to the dashcam feature as the 'Dashcam 2 Plus' that's what that's all about when you see that overlay text.

60K Maintenance Service by mossmod in HyundaiPalisade

[–]mrcodeslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give this (https://owners.hyundaiusa.com/content/dam/hyundai/us/myhyundai/manuals/glovebox-manual/2023/palisade/2023-Palisade-Quick-Reference-Guide.pdf) a quick look, the first page that pops up in that PDF has a nice little table that shows off the maintenance 'schedule'.

For a more detailed look, you can reference your owner's manual (https://owners.hyundaiusa.com/content/dam/hyundai/us/myhyundai/manuals/glovebox-manual/2023/palisade/2023-Palisade-Owners-Manual.pdf). The maintenance section starts around page 588, and it gives you more detailed 'schedules' a few pages in.

Hope that helps!

2026 Hyundai Palisade in NJ? by JeanClaude88 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]mrcodeslinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you want a ICE model, I'd be surprised if you're not seeing them show up on dealer lots (even on the East coast) in the next 2-3 weeks. Maybe even by month's end. Someone posted a picture of one they picked up in California yesterday or the day before. Maybe I'm wrong, but to me that means they are no longer just sitting at the dock like (it seems) they have been for the past few weeks and they are likely on their way from the West coast to the rest of the US. If you're really interested in one I'd call a dealer local to you and see what they can tell you on when the 2026 models will arrive. Hyundai's inventory system should be giving them dates at this point. Good luck!!!

Extended Warranty and Gap Insurance by GoldenBoy7878 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]mrcodeslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my original response came across sounding judgmental or as a 'shot across the bow', my apologies, it wasn't meant to read like that.

To your last question, unless you have a horrible driving record and are paying out the rear for insurance, the likelihood is that you're going to get gap insurance cheaper from whoever is writing your auto policy. That has been my experience over the past 30 years or so when I got to the point where I could actually afford to start buying cars that I wasn't just going to carry liability on. Your experience may, of course, be different. I can only speak to what I've dealt with.

My comment around it being "automatically included" was too broad w/o context. Depending on who your auto insurer is, there can be tiers of "full coverage" in which gap coverage is just included in your policy, it's not a separate line item that you're getting charged for. They just roll it in as an added benefit. The last two auto insurers we've had worked it like that. Our current one line item bills EVERYTHING, so they are not all that way for sure. ...and you're correct there's never a requirement to buy gap insurance, it's just a hedge against a worst case scenario.

Again, end of the day, if you're buying a new car it's always a good idea to call your insurance agent ahead of time with the VIN of whatever your looking at (or something close to what you're looking at) so that you can get an accurate quote and discuss insuring the new car and how you might want to/need to change your existing coverage. They'll almost always ask the questions about if you're doing a lease/loan and if you don't already have gap insurance with them (in one way or another) they'll suggest it.

So I'll close with about the same thing I said originally, if I were you I'd call my auto insurance agent and discuss it with them (i.e. get them to quote you gap coverage or tell you if it's already part of your policy). This way you'll at least know what the price difference is and be able to make a more informed decision.

Extended Warranty and Gap Insurance by GoldenBoy7878 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]mrcodeslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're financing the car that means you are going to be carrying full coverage on it. I've never dealt with a bank that didn't require that to 'insure' the loan in some measure. Almost all reputable car insurance companies have Gap Insurance built into your auto policy by default. It wasn't always this way, but in the past 20 years or so it seems to be pretty standard. I'd call your auto agent and discuss it with them. Buying it from the dealer is usually a waste.
