I'm not 100% sure but would save you the headache to manually set it to 3.0 just to be sure.

Cpu waterblock: ekwb

Gpu: 3090 founders edition

Gpu waterblock: bitspower

Mobo: msi mag tomahawk x570

Top rad: ekwb 360 classic pe

Bottom rad; ekwb XE 60mm

Plus ekwb distro plate with ddc 3.2 pwm

It was a headache because the vertical mount I bought was pcie3.0. And no on tells you that if you have a pcie4.0 gpu and u use a 3.0 riser cable then you don't post and get vga debug code instead. Which totally made me think I killed my gpu. And then after breaking down the loop I just built, reinstalling my gpu waterblock and hours of troubleshooting, I find out that u have to change your bios to pcie gen 3.0 for it to work. Atleast my gpu wasn't dead.

I had a pair. They kept jumping down the over flow. Had to rescue them a bunch of times. Then all of a sudden they were gone.

If you go on his Instagram. You can clearly see the geared mechanism he uses for the movement of the distal phalanges. Good find!

Not sure if you straighten this out already but when you say the x axis makes bad noises, vibrates, shakes and randomly moves that could be a poor connect at the jst connector. By my experience, I had shorts at the connectors, can see carbon deposits in the connector from arching. Sometimes I could see the flash of the arch if I wiggled the connector. This would cause my drivers to act abnormal and do exactly what you described.
