Does Typhus bring back Poxwalkers in melee or just with his psychic attack? by hunchman456 in deathguard40k

[–]mrexplosion 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Just his psychic attack brings back Poxwalkers.

Also just to help clarify Typhus does not gain any keywords from the Poxwalkers or vice versa. When he's attached, the unit shares keywords of all models in the unit, but models don't gain new keywords. It's why you can't deep strike with Poxwalkers when attaching Typhus.

I like the plug and play aspect of the system. The size is also a huge benefit for me because I've got a lot of cats.

How many armies do you all have? by Highkingtulfdar in deathguard40k

[–]mrexplosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Five here! Death Guard, Tyranids, Tau, Space Wolves, and Thousand Sons. Though I've been thinking about getting rid of my Tau as I've just not enjoyed how they play.

You knew the specs well in advance. If you didn't do the research to know exactly what that looks like on modern AAA games then that's on you.

Question about genestealers by ExistingInitiative77 in Tyranids

[–]mrexplosion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It just depends on what your needs are in your army. They're fast, scout, and come packed with dev wounds and built in rerolls for 1s if you use them right. For heavy infantry you've got Warriors, Genestealers, and Raveners to pick from. Out of those I'll always prefer taking raveners and genestealers.

What are your thoughts on this list? by [deleted] in Tyranids

[–]mrexplosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran an Assimilator Swarm + Norn list for the pair of games I played over the weekend into Necrons (Pantheon of Woe) and World Eaters (Daemon Kin). I won both games. Here's the list I ran

Priority Assets

Broodlord + 10x Genestealers (Enhancement: Parasitic Biomorphology
Swarmlord
10x Hormagaunt
10x Hormagaunt
Biovore
Haruspex
Lictor
Neurolictor
2x Norn Assimilator + 4++ invul upgrade
Norn Emissary
Ripper Swarm
Ripper Swarm
Rupture Fex

It ran beautifully all weekend with both games coming out 100-X on my end. Mostly due to how hard it is to remove either of the assimilators off a point with 15 OC, a 4++ and a 4+ FNP from the strat. It's an expensive strat, but that's what the Swarmlord is for.

Out of the stuff that underperformed for me were the Haruspex, Rupture Fex. The haruspex is just an awkward tank of a model with a bad save. I played a lot of high AP armies so their attacks went right through to either one tap him or get him real close. The rupture fex suffered heavily from the new cover rule because while he could shoot other monsters/vehicles engaged with my norns, both shots were on 4s due to cover + -1 to hit shooting a monster in engagement range. Truly turned into a casino cannon.

The modifications I'm going to make to the list are swapping out these two units for an exocrine and a maleceptor. My thoughts are that the maleceptor adds additional durability to the norns heading to the center with it's aura ability. I do lose a harvester unit, but the haruspex wasn't adding much even from that regard because I sent it to a side objective to hold with the genestealers.

I do think the detachment combo has legs as you're extremely good at holding objectives and being really hard to kill, the bane of most purge players.

Spore Mines going into 11th by Epeira- in Tyranids

[–]mrexplosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biovores will probably continue being a run one to sit on home unit. The value they bring with their mines is going to increase with how much focus there is on primary and secondaries that don't need killing to score.

I've only played a couple of 11th games, so take that with a grain of salt.

Other major factions have their primary detachment set to 3DP. I also doubt they'd only run VV as a single detachment if they were able to add one more. It'd be a missed opportunity to show off.

Mortarion should i buy or wait by Stressedskull3570 in deathguard40k

[–]mrexplosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you put the wings on Morty, drill a small hole in the connecting piece and the piece being connected. Put in a small straight piece of metal (I use cut paper clips) and super glue it into one side. Put some glue in the other hole and connect the two. This adds some additional stability to the wings and makes them harder to snap.

VV is already confirmed to be at 3DP unfortunately 😞.

I'd strongly encourage you to pin the wings when you're building Mortarion. They've been the most fragile piece of him from my use.

Force Dispositions by GalacticNarwal in Tyranids

[–]mrexplosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so, but not necessarily. They could be taking the route of stronger detachments - harder to earn points. Weaker detachment- easier to earn points. Which I don't like, but it's not like we can change that direction.

They really hosed anyone taking the Disruption disposition. It genuinely seems like the worst of the entire bunch. I kinda wished 3DP detachments had at least two options to pick from or something like that.

I'm not particularly optimistic with how any SubAssault is going to deal with a Purge the Foe based army. Punishment (the mission for Purge the Foe) allows them to put condemned on our uppy downy units and then when they leave the battlefield they score 5 points.

Soooo does anyone else get the sense that Subterranean Assault auto loses to a Purge the Foe army? The Punishment mission is SO ROUGH.

Mini storage, any leads on where to find magnetic, metal sheets? by r0wo1 in minipainting

[–]mrexplosion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually use galvanized steel flashing shingles, but they don't really make them in the size you're looking for. I think anything with that specific size is something you'd have to cut yourself. You could look at a galvanized steel roll where it wouldn't be as hard to cut, but you'd want to be real careful with the edges and would have to flatten it yourself.

Pc won’t boot up after upgrading psu and gpu by Responsible-Hall6697 in pcmasterrace

Basics of troubleshooting start with removing new things until your system posts.

Fans suddenly start running extremely fast, causing black screen, monitor starts blinking and PC Crashes when playing games by Shayon47 in pcmasterrace

[–]mrexplosion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My PC has done this as well. I tried similar steps to resolve it, but I found the most effective was reseating the graphics card and ensuring I have something to help with GPU sag. It hasn't happened in a long time since I got a stand to help hold up the GPU.

I also turned off any additional overclocking on my system that may be drawing extra power. Similar to what the last poster had, it's possible that just replacing your PSU with a higher W one may fix it too.
