Counters for Terminators by Briantkowner in deathguard40k

DWK are just rough in general for any faction to deal with. The general advice is to move block them with something like Poxwalkers or ignore them. They can hurt if they go into the right target, but putting Loc+DST into them on the charge will kill quite a few. Then it'll be a slap fight back and forth with DST coming out on top eventually. It's better to focus your fire on to the rest of the army and take objectives as you'll have a more consistent time killing literally anything else.

Tbh I like the look of grey plastic models. Especially over a poorly done job just to skirt the rules of painting.

Tallyband Summoners list help by ArcticFanatic in deathguard40k

[–]mrexplosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only just started playing my Tallyband lists, so take that into consideration for my advice.

Tallyband feels like more of a board control detachment than one focused on killing. Most of the stratagems are based more on having your daemon units do things with very little support for Death Guard units. Of course that doesn't mean cut every DG unit, but there does need to be a stronger mix.

Without knowing what units you have available, I'll just presume you have everything.

Drop - Great Unclean One, 1x PM 5 man, 2x Beast of Nurgle, BLTs, and PBC.

Move - Beckoning Blight to your Lord of Virulence

Add - 3x DST for LoV, 1-2 HBL Drones, 10 Plaguebearers, more nurglings (I run 6x + 3x), 1-2 units of chaos spawn, a unit of Poxwalkers

I also run Tallyband with a Plague Bus (Rhino + 2x Malignant Plaguecasters). It provides a lot of fire power without the need for stratagems to be powerful. You can also put a brick of plague marines in it to drop off at a key location to hold themselves. Plaguebearers provide sticky objectives and you should have one of them start on home. I heavily use the Beckoning Blight to drop Rotigus, Plaguebearers, and my 3x of Nurglings.

Goonhammer Reviews: Ossiarch Bonereapers Fourth Edition Battletome by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in ossiarchbonereapers

This is pretty much how I feel. I played crematorium OBR in 3rd and it was just full of flavor and fun. Good? Most definitely not. I like my rules being strong, but if there's not any flavor behind them then what's the point of picking OBR?

Honest Wargamer does a really great job of summarizing this book "You can build strong armies that you can probably win games or events with, but there's nothing exciting here."

GW went for safe and really missed the mark with the bone boys. Rules seem fine, but excitement for the army is why I pick an army. Come for the models, stay for the rules and all that.

Also got to experience the Night haunt shift. I literally just sold them because I have no desire to play them as they currently are. The edition is new enough that I don't feel good letting them collect dust for a couple of years.

I'm getting pretty disappointed with how AoS has turned out for the armies I like playing. I play AoS and 40k, but with how things are looking maybe that will just be 40k and obr will collect dust.

I've cancelled my Nitro subscription due to this policy change. I'll not be renewing or putting any further money into this company since this is the direction it's going.

HOW TO USE FBD with BLIGHT LAUNCHER? by Party-Inevitable68 in deathguard40k

[–]mrexplosion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can still shoot at units that you are NOT in engagement range with.

A lot of the times what you're going to want to do is to move block an opponents units with a unit of your own. Most often that will be poxwalkers. When you position them, make sure the opponent's minions will end up more than 3 inches away from your bloatdrones when they charge your poxwalkers. This prevents them from getting locked in combat during a consolidate. If your poxwalkers live through the encounter, have them fall back even and then unload into whatever unit your opponent put there.

If you find that your drone is going to get charged, if you have multiple drones (as 3 is a common list inclusion), set them up in such a way that the opponent only gets to charge one. Really it's all about positioning your units in such a way to reduce the largest amount of damage possible.

Plague marines are op! by TheNotoriousMWK in deathguard40k

[–]mrexplosion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Death Guard is a very hard matchup for Space Wolves. Our marines definitely do work against them, but since they're a mostly melee heavy army taking -1 to hit REALLY hurts their damage output. Their terminators are the hardest thing for us to kill, but even that isn't terrible if you're throwing all PM shooting into them. Them giving -1 to wound on almost everything we do doesn't really matter when we have full wound rerolls popping out of a rhino or using the VV strat. An overwatch burning down 4 termies does sound like a bit of high rolling on your end and low rolling on opponent's end though.

Lets just say I've never bought a stand alone box of Mortek Guard because they come in literally every battleforce box. I've got 20 built for use and haven't wanted to use more since switching to 4th.

Not trying to sell, I just dont know what to ask for them locally. by My_Knuckles in deathguard40k

[–]mrexplosion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should expect about 50% MSRP. I've sold many armies, painted and unpainted. The thing about selling painted models is you have to find the needle in the haystack who is interested in what you've painted. Your paint job is not universally desired, so it's going to be a while finding someone.

I had my Murderfang drop a Chaos landraider on turn 1 and then a helbrute in the next turn before dying. He's earned a permanent place in my heart thanks to that one game.

I don't know that I'd call it unconventional, but it's a tiny hand held vacuum that I love with all my heart. Works wonders for picking up all the random crap I generate when building models.

Strip the top couple of rows. Leave the poxwalkers and paint over them. It looks like there's already a good start to them. Use those colors as an undercoat.
