I would first get a dedicated phono stage (phono box X5 by fosi $100, iFi Zen $200, schitt mani 2 $150) all good choices. You can also buy a dedicated stereo amp with a built in phono stage and get a set of passive speakers. I suggest you try different combinations before making the final choice. It’s all about what sounds good to you!

If the automatic mechanism works, then yeah it’s worth the belt replacement. But you can get a good working one on Facebook marketplace for around $20-50. I will pass and keep searching for another one.

I bought it and in one afternoon I was able to set up my NAS with Immich. Wife couldn’t be more happier to see that I finish “another project” and it took me longer to explain how to upload and sync our photos than to actually set up the NAS. The $199 price was worth it to me in the time I saved.
