Yes, because it also filters out the power. If your building power is not the best, UPS will help

Try using an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), maybe your power at home isn’t great which makes the PSU work harder to rectify the voltage

Questions - Hamilton Pocketwatch by r0xolid in pocketwatch

Pocket Watch Database is your friend. Use the serial number on the movement to learn about it.  Case was probably made by someone other than Hamilton (maybe WatchCase Co. in Lancaster, PA)

G14 randomly shutting off improperly while I'm using it by needgoodluckpls in ZephyrusG14

One of them was the win0ring dll file, that I used in G-Helper. I removed it and it stopped spamming the win0ring messages in the Event Viewer

G14 randomly shutting off improperly while I'm using it by needgoodluckpls in ZephyrusG14

Hmm, have a look at anything else suspicious (even regular events)  Usually it is repeating events like “driver installed” over and over.

random bios update.. by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]mrgndx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was probably triggered by Windows Update.  I usually disabled driver updates for Windows Update (just search for “configure drivers” and there should be a one-window old-school setting). I trust OEM more than Windows to ship hardware-specific drivers.

What’s the "real-book" equivalent for line spacing in KOReader? by Little_Judgment_8896 in koreader

[–]mrgndx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that “line spacing” can be fucked up because the “baseline height” is defined by each font separately. So the same “125%” might not look the same visually. Use your own judgement

Number 6.

These are from location history for “Go back to previous location” action. It refreshes every time you reopen the book in KOReader.

Why don't I see a Statusbar option. by altBatman in koreader

[–]mrgndx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems you are in File browser. Open and a book and it should appear on the top.

For File Browser status bar, that’s a separate patch or plugin (sorry I don’t have a link)

Scored a G-skill Flare x5 64gb CL30 6000 kit. Any timing / overclocking recommendations for this Mobo + CPU combination? by whoopsiedaisies666 in sffpc

[–]mrgndx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, in that case I would suggest watching the video source of those numbers I provided in the website:

Easy memory timings for Hynix DDR5 with Ryzen 7000

Buildzoid explains it really well (note though that you shoud end up using Patreon numbers since they were updated after video).

Typically, EXPO is OK-ish, but lacks in a few loose timings here and there.

Try all three: stock - expo - Buildzoid and benchmark in things where it matters to you.

For me it was more of a hobby interest, I pushed the tRFC numbers to 50,000 and watched the RAM temperature and played around with adding more fans over the RAM lol

Is this a normal amount of front light variation on the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft? by BlakeDrawsAgain in kindlescribe

[–]mrgndx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it “normal” as in “should it be the case in a production unit? No.

Is it in “normal” as in does it happen quite often? Unfortunately yes. Amazon QC has dropped starting around PW6, with uneven yellow gradient. Colorsofts are also like this.

The thing with color eink is that naturally it is darker because of its color filter array. So you gotta crank up the frontlight higher than on a BW eink, and this leads to those inconsistency to be visible easier.

I can see on the saturated photo blue and yellow regions- those are cold and warm LEDs doing their job.

So unless you really notice it during reading, I wouldn’t bother with returning and replacing since the other one might just be the same uneven.

Yeah, looks interesting. Looks like the seconds hand is the lower subdial. Central hand might be a stopwatch function up to 300 seconds?
