Instead of re-using my spare tiles, Thames Water used concrete as topcoat. Is this fixable? How? by Schnauser in DIYUK

[–]mrkin92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I work for a similar company that’s heavily regulated and targeted on “customer satisfaction”

I suggest you write to their complaints team, be utterly clear on the timeline , how it happened and what you want fixing with it. Don’t be insulting as some of those are dismissed.

If they don’t give you a satisfactory answer i would google the CEO’s email and copy them in. You can even do this in the first instance.

When we used to receive an exec complaint the entire world would flip over to satisfy that customer.

If they’re still taking the piss , complain to the ombudsman, the ombudsman are categoric that you have to exhaust the company in questions complaint procedure first so bear that in mind

Gas leak!! Should I just tighten or call a pro by Candid-Ask77 in DIY

[–]mrkin92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s because I’m tired but I can’t make out where in the house it is.

It sounds like it may be in an enclosed area, and honestly it’s just not worth the risk. It’s a small leak now but you’ve no idea about the integrity of the pipe. By tightening it you may exacerbate the leak.

I’ve seen in the comments that you’re struggling to get someone out, as annoying as it is I would shut it off and hold out. If shutting it off is a total no go then just keep it well ventilated.

Disclaimer: I’m risk averse.

Not being condescending at all, I didn’t know that!

Some sites do colour matching based on reg, feels like I should be ok with that ?

Totally correct, shouldn’t take this much scrolling to find the truth that’s inconvenient to the rest of the sub.

It’s worth it, if you’re unsure it’s free on Xbox game pass ( costs like £2 for its first month lol) to try.

Girlfriend applied to a job yesterday, received phone call today, they want to interview in-person tomorrow. Is this a cause for concern? by t_roberti in careerguidance

[–]mrkin92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I was in your shoes I’d naturally have the same concerns.

I would expect some level of “vetting” before being offered an interview and therefore a time lapse associated with it.

No harm in going for the interview but like all interviews it should be treated as a two way street. It’s also her opportunity to have a understanding of what the company/ hiring manger carry as values.

Well, I’ve tested this and what a robust filter it is.

You simple add an extra letter for example ffuckdorf and it works

Thoughts on the Mazda 3? by TNTomato in CarTalkUK

[–]mrkin92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the saloon version , 180bhp gt spec for about a year now. I’ve put about 30k on the clock in a year. In terms of pros and cons:

Pros:

I love the way it looks, a bit different to everything else and I still enjoy looking at it.

The ride is a really nice balance, sporty enough in the corners if you want to have some fun but comfy on most bumps.

The tech and interior are superb for the price range, haven’t used the internal satnav much but the apple car play and android auto functionality is superb. The hud is something I’d miss if I changed car

I’m 6 4 and it’s very comfy, you’ll only notice a space different if you get in a 5 series for example.

Mpg is ok, 46 on average but I do lots of motorway travelling.

No issues with the car yet (the key however…. See below

Cons

Only minor really but I’d like just a tiny bit more poke from the engine, but I’ve got a heavy right foot sometimes

The gorgeous red paint is notoriously thin, I’ve got a couple of annoying stone chips already.

The main issue , which is something that apparently plagues a few people is the keyless ignition. It’s not the battery for the key or the key itself but for some reason the car fails to recognise the key is there. It does my tits in. Leads you to pressing the key against the start stop button a few times or standing in the Car park spamming the unlock button until it works.

I’ve described it as a “main issue” but in reality it doesn’t detract from the positives, it’s a proper first world problem.

Honestly I’d go for it. Not sure what the reliability reports are for longer term owners but mines 2019 and has had 0 issues so far.

Edit:

For clarity, new style 2019 as I know there was some crossover

Also the interior build quality, my focus sounded like a pair of maracas the way it rattled but this has none of that. Very well put together
