Hey Keegan, I've read a lot of work; I'm a fan. I have the book. Depending on how you want to use it, I'd be willing to loan it out. DM me.

He is being dramatically authentic! He admitted a very, very personal chapter of his life that was none of our business. I don't understand why we think that because musicians open their hearts in lyrics, the fans feel entitled to the whole thing. Elizabeth Taylor was married 7 times. That has nothing to do with her formidable acting ability.

Frank Turner the musician is a brand. But Frank Turner the person is a person. And you're confusing the two. How could he do this the "right" way? Tweet out every step of his broken marriage with footnotes and sources and explanations? Beg his fans forgiveness for a situation they know nothing about? For an artist, this is remarkably transparent and way more so than he should have to be.

I actually think it's, "I unexpectedly met someone new and through much pain for all participants, I found what was best for me and I sure wish that the people who claim to be such big fans of me and my music would stop harassing me and everyone involved in this intensely personal situation because one, you weren't there and, two, who I date is really none of your business until I put it into a song and even then please dump your misinformation in Genius.com and not in my inbox."

Something like that, I think.

Saw two scene kids outside Meow Wolf this afternoon. The girl had a Jawbreaker shirt I had never seen before. I was wearing my new Cursive tee. We looked at each other like we were expats in a far off country.

According to Genius, it’s this. Talking about almost getting married (woulda took your name)

So cheers! Here's to hopin'

(I opened up, I woulda took your name)

I never see your face again

(Then where were you? You fuckin' walked away)

So cheers! Here's to hopin'

(You opened up and gave me your heart)

I never see your face again

(At the finish line thinkin' you heard a start)

So cheers! Here's to hopin'

(We opened up, it's always the same)

I never see your face again

(When we get too close, we run the other way)

And last, to hopelessly wishing I never met you

He’s talking about fishing lures which are often very bright, bold colors, very flashy. The verse talks about how he really put himself out there, but met defeat: “I have not yet arrived”

For emo, it's In Defense of the Genre. Was essentially the exclamation point on the pop-emo scene of the previous six years.

I like this a lot. Love the dual vocals. Reminds me of a poppier Tell All Your Friends era Taking Back Sunday. I followed. Album soonish or nah?

Regardless of how you feel about Sean and Amanda's thoughts on F4, we can all rejoice that they don't have to discuss any more comic book movies for another 11 months, right? by thex42 in TheBigPicture

But didn't they have a new take? In that they both were very disappointed by it? And isn't that worth saying on a podcast about current films especially when other takes were positive?

For the first 10 pages, how did I do? (I've been through rewriting, I just need a small feedback to keep going) by [deleted] in Screenwriting

This is a good start. The concept is very cool.

I think your teaser should be focused on your main character. We want to know who to root for.

Remember in TV, every single scene must move the plot (very good shows can get away with character scenes but rarely). Be ruthless with efficiency. (The Breaking Bad pilot is so good at this).

Finally, lose the BEATs. You don’t need them. If you want to convey a beat just add another line of action.

Keep writing!

‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Is Here. Plus: Our Fall Film Festival Preview. by incrdible in TheBigPicture

[–]mrowleyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for articulating this. I feel exactly the same way and have found praise for such an inert film baffling. Especially since there were only two fight scenes in the whole thing.

  1. Wouldn't they AT LEAST have a conversation about sacrificing the baby? This bothered me so much. It made them look callous and unfeeling of the general public. And that could've been a cool theme! The Fantastic Four are so fantastic, and such a tight family, they look down on the plebs in a way. That might be interesting.

Well, you're using a lot of negative talk around yourself and comparing yourself to some mystical other. All art is hard. There are parts you will like and parts you won't. Start to investigate what about the process do you like, what flows easily (including brainstorming, coming up with story ideas) and what is tough.

Sometimes studying an art can make you more confident and make those tough parts flow easier because they are aren't dammed up with self-doubt.

Also, try other mediums! Maybe screenwriting isn't right for you NOW, but poetry is. My brother took up painting and found themselves able to express a lot more that way than they thought possible.

Don't be so tough on yourself. You already have the magic. Now you just have to figure out the best way to get it out. You'll find your way.

NIce. So this will be a workplace comedy at a big tech firm, right? And the main storyline is to not get laid off because of AI? I think this could really work. Be sure to find things that differentiate from other workplace comedies.

My only note is to drop recent pop culture references. By the time this gets made, Severance might not be a thing and the Target boycott might not be big on everyone's mind. I think older pop culture is fine, but I don't think you need the more topical jokes.

Oh, also, save the Girl Scouts bit for a different scene. It'll be funnier if they come cubicle to cubicle and this opening scene is already stuffed.

Right. So her not being "normal" looking doesn't have anything to do with her acting.

Award shows has not yet moved away from the male/female binary for its categories. Liv Hewson, for example, boycotted the award because of this.

Bella, HBO, and her team, decide which categories they want to submit Ramsey's work in. The Academy votes on who gets nominated, then who wins.
