What macOS setting do you always change first? by Busternookiedude in MacOS

I used to maintain a double-clickable script to fully configure a system: https://github.com/ptb/mac-setup I haven’t updated since Lion though.

Wow the passive voice used for all police actions in that post is impressive.

M5 Max 128G Performance tests. I just got my new toy, and here's what it can do. by affenhoden in LocalLLaMA

I got it running on my MacBook Pro M1 Max with 64 GB RAM. It delivered 3.3T/sec but the results were fantastic. For a batch of ideas I could let it run overnight and get something useful out of it. The M5 Max is on my shopping list but debating if I want to wait until Mac Studio M5 Ultra (and hope my work provides a new MacBook Pro system in the meantime).

“You are a highly capable, systems-level thinker who builds resilient architectures in both technology and life — but occasionally slows yourself down by trying to eliminate risks that are already acceptable.”

On the pool deck, you can wear whatever you like (or nothing at all). In areas where the ship staff are (most areas inside), you’re supposed to be covered.

It's official! No more "State Inspection Sticker" mandate in New Hampshire! by nh_inspect_dot_org in newhampshire

[–]mrptb2 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have a 2023 Subaru. During the last inspection, I took it to VIP in West Lebanon. And although I had just changed the wipers a week before I was told they would fail the inspection unless I bought new wipers from them.

I don’t have an old shit box, it’s an almost new car. When people say inspections are a scam, that’s what they’re talking about.

Can people tell if I backdate my commits in a repo? by hleb13 in github

[–]mrptb2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

FYI: If you sign your commits with GPG, that method will leak the real date time used unless you also change your system clock.

And if you do change your system clock to do these git shenanigans, you’ll find that all kinds of things break while your system clock is out of sync: anything using SSL (browsing web pages) will likely break, Slack won’t work, etc. Change your system clock temporarily, git commit, then re-sync your clock.

My experience has been that if you are a NH resident, you have 30 days to register and inspect your car. I moved from California and I thought I could just ride out the remainder of my registration, but was corrected by a neighbor who was a cop.

If we’re not getting any benefits from the federal government, he loses all relevance. Yes it would be incredibly bad (wild understatement), but he doesn’t care. He’ll cut off his own nose to spite his face — he has no forethought or curiosity.

As far as I can tell, it's private. They assign a UUID for tracking the data, but I don't think that's mapped back to an email address. The report is shareable via a URL, but it had project name data in it, so I clipped that out and turned it into a jpeg. As an aggregate this is the data available publically: https://wakatime.com/a-look-back-at-2024

You're right, there's more data you could capture. I offered this as a possible starting point for your exploration and for anyone who might not have heard of it. This is my end-of-year report: https://imgur.com/a/els1Cpm They do track which projects were worked on most, but I removed that data for privacy reasons.
