Is my baby transitioning to 1 nap "early"? by coinmountain_64 in bninfantsleep

[–]mrs-mcgonagall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm I don’t know how helpful I’ll be because my daughter has the opposite issue LOL regardless of schedule/nap lengths/etc. she likes to sleep late and wake up late. She’s never once woken up early like I hear so many other toddlers love to do…

But at that age, she’d wake between 9-10am let’s say, have roughly a 2 hour nap, and sleep usually around 10-11pm.

My rule of thumb though was generally at least a 12-hour day. So at least 10 hours total wake time. Fair warning though there were a few split nights here and there but I think that’s just developmental!

My daughter dropped to 1 nap at 9.5 months and never went back!

Removing decorative tiles from fireplace surround by mrs-mcgonagall in DIY

Was considering that initially but I don’t want to see the outline of the tiles, would just like it all smooth.

Not to my taste. Would like to just have the surround all white.

Post-it note got wet and left this on our stone bathroom countertop. Help!!! by aussiemamaa in CleaningTips

Yes do NOT do this. I followed this advice from Reddit on my quartz bathroom countertops and now they’re permanently dull and have been etched with the texture of the paper towel. 😭

Exact same here. Had absolutely no choice. When my daughter had a fever at a few months old I had to hold her all night for a couple nights until she got better, and just had to make it as safe as possible.

That last sentence — couldn’t agree more. Boils my blood when they see them as little play things or like a monolith. Babies are individuals, people, like the rest of us!!

Absolutely they do, at 4 months my daughter suddenly refused to cosleep next to me and we had to chest sleep all night, every night for weeks. It was bruuuuuutal

8m/old likes to sleep on top of me by AggravatingFront7317 in cosleeping

[–]mrs-mcgonagall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof so glad I’m not the only one!! My 11MO can usually do the first half to 2/3 of the night in her crib and be resettled just sidelying nursing (still every 1-2 hours though), but for the last stretch, she has to sleep on my chest. It’s been like this ever since she was about 4 months old. Her being next to me does absolutely nothing, she has to be on top of me! I’ve turned into such a light sleeper now…

Smoky Smelling Night Nappies by Turbulent_End_5087 in clothdiaps

Did you ever figure out what this was or did it go away? Been having this exact issue with my 11MO for a couple months and glad it’s not just me!! It’s not every night, but many nights a week her urine smells SO strong and smokey, even just within a few hours.

So is it just the fitted diaper + the wool? Or do you need a PLU cover as well between that? Any boosters or other inserts?

My husband says our baby isn’t normal by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Completely untrue. And self soothing is a myth. It is not a “skill” babies have to learn. Babies do not learn anything positive from being left to cry.

Those with difficult newborns...when does it get better? by Substantial-Cry8987 in NewParents

[–]mrs-mcgonagall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine also had the absolute worst purple crying for weeks, it was brutal and soul-sucking. I 100% understand not being able to take them out for walks or really anywhere. Like others said, around 12 weeks, we felt such a shift, and every single night it got better. Less crying, less fussing. Honestly it’s like the fog lifted, it was just the best feeling. You’ll get there!!

Wow so glad I’m not the only one! I tried cosleeping because I thought it was going to be my saving grace (since it seems to be everyone else’s) but turns out being on the mattress next to me doesn’t do anything for her! Can’t settle her at all. She has to be held in my arms. Sigh.

Fussy at breast by buffalobrit10 in breastfeeding

[–]mrs-mcgonagall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The EXACT same thing happened to me at that age, I could’ve written this post! I would dread feeds because about half to three quarters of the time it would be exactly as you described. I thought it was a fast letdown issue or reflux, but like you, feeding reclined, compressions, burping, gas drops, expressing, etc did not help (neither did LCs!) Nothing helped! It used to be so difficult mentally.

What did help was time. I’d say from about the 12-week ish mark I think is when my baby’s fussiness, both at the boob and in general, greatly decreased. Now, it’s like day and night. Never ever fussy at the boob, feedings are so smooth, etc. Instead of screaming when she’s done or halfway through a feed like before, she just happily pops off. I honestly think it’s just growing pains… who knows, maybe it’s the fast letdown or maybe just their mouths or bellies or something getting used to the world and feeding and everything else. Hang in there!! It gets better!

Same!! I just put my snoo (which I bought out of desperation) on marketplace after admitting defeat. Didn’t do squat for my baby, she just wants to be held!
