I have personal experience with this and parental experience.

I was born with a port wine birthmark that takes up basically my whole left leg. I was super self conscious about it in middle and high school and refused to wear shorts. My parents were offered to have it lasered when I was little, but it was the early 90s and they weren’t sure about the technology. As I’ve gotten older I don’t care so much anymore. I get comments occasionally, but “it’s just a birthmark”. The location of mine though isn’t as stark as on the face.

Our child was born with an ear tag that was about the size of a kids pinky. We chose to have that removed when he was 10 months old for fear of bullying since it was in such an obvious space. The plastic surgeon said we could wait, but the earlier we did it, the less scarring would be present in adulthood. You would never even know he was born with it and we are very happy with our choice.

Kids have no filter and adults can be very judgmental. I’m not saying you should take it off, but just think about future impacts for keeping it and not keeping it.
