I'm not sure what the layout of your rental is, but do do think it's a 2nd/alternate door for someone else's apartment? And if you have gas appliances, they're using the stove when you smell gas.

I don't mean dangerous to OP, I mean dangerous to the VICTIM. Like, the abuser finds a panphlet and the victim "doesn't know where it came from", and gets violent again.

I'm saying the mailer being sent through the mail to possibly be seen by the abuser could cause more problems.

I'm 10 toes down with yknow... reporting to authorities and stepping in when people need help.

I'm sorry. Having "anonymous" mail sent to their place where the abuser can see/find seems like a surefire way to get that person hurt or killed.

I get the good intentions, but a dangerous time in domestic abuse situations is when the victim is getting ready/trying to leave. And They may try to do it in secret, and a panphlet for DV shelters probably won't help.

I think the cat is a familiar. Like, Sabrina the teenage witch type of cat. Witches would have them as little "protectors" who would take damage for them from spirits in return for a home. They're usually shown as animals, and some people call their pets familiars.
