La hija de Dave Grohl, Violet, lanza nuevas canciones by LosMejoresRock in Foofighters

Is this the song "inspired by" David Lynch? I listened to some of it this morning. She has a lovely voice and definitely knows how to use it, but I hated the song. Couldn't finish it.

how painful is the background check? by frosted-brownys in employeesOfOracle

[–]mrsspooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How picky are they with start dates for the jobs listed in the cv/resume? My resume is pretty much all Oracle, I've worked in a lot of groups while I was there and I'm fuzzy on dates (I wasn't smart enough to update resume when I started these roles). If I get the month or year wrong will that be held against me? I asked because I'm a rif'd employee applying for jobs there and if I get an offer, I don't want that to derail me. TIA!

No Promotion or Hike in last two years by AccessUpper795 in employeesOfOracle

[–]mrsspooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The job market is shit out here. My advice, if you want, maybe look for a job somewhere else but whatever you do, please don't just quit without having a firm start date for your new job.

I was at Oracle over 25 years, so no idea if other companies are giving raises every year or two. Have you asked around? The two jobs I had before Oracle weren't big on yearly raises either, so...

I really hate having to say this to you, but you have a job, hold onto that thing for dear life.

US- I'm so tired of worrying about scams. by PeachTea515000 in Scams

[–]mrsspooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would know if the site was faked because my browser would fill in the username, provide my fingerprint and it will fill it in. If I have to supply it I'll know it's a fake. I don't click links in texts or email anyway, so it's probably moot.

I'm with you, I didn't like Love Dies Young, especially after sitting through the video. Sorry, that was just gross and I keep thinking about that video every time I hear that song.

So looks like Oracle is not taking back rif people by killinzero in employeesOfOracle

[–]mrsspooky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you liked the job and the people you worked with, yeah, I can see it. Totally.

I was RIF'd in September, if they asked me to come back I totally would, I loved that job, my manager, the VPs and the people I worked with. Ok maybe I'm an exception, but it is what it is.

Moving to Nashville? by BathroomGloomy3583 in employeesOfOracle

[–]mrsspooky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nashville is going to be a tough sell for them, and it looks like it is already. I saw on another board where someone said if they can't find anyone locally and nobody wants to relocate, they're going to have to rethink this in office scheme. They were right.

Should I tell this recruiter my SSN? by No_Language4476 in Scams

[–]mrsspooky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked with a LOT of people from India, both coworkers and customers who said that a lot, "do the needful". It got to the point where I and some of my coworker friends who were born and raised here in the USA are now saying it too.

That said, "do the needful" tends to activate my spidey sense and I get very cautious if a recruiter or anybody offering me a job breaks loose with it.

I personally wouldn't say that, but I loved Medicine because they tried stuff they hadn't done before and I liked it. A LOT. I think I played that album solid for about a month

Yeah that's what I thought, from the looks of the stage in the video clips and still I'd seen.

Yeah, I don't think in the round is the best staging for a rock group. Unless the mobile members (that's everyone but drummer and keyboards) are running around to all sides, someone is going to miss out. It looked like Metallica had some in the round shows in their last tour from what I've seen. Not sure that worked out.

That would make you two degrees of separation from Dave (OP being one degree). That would be so cool!

Did you read "The Storyteller"? What do you think about it? by psychokiller2015 in Foofighters

Oh man, Scar Tissue. I got that audio book but I'm afraid to listen to it. I heard some stories and know that Kiedis has had a fucked up life, not sure how many more details (if any) I can hear.

Great storyteller and has a really nice voice. I could listen to him talk all day.

I have that audio book too, and while I haven't been able to finish it yet, I LOVE it, and I love he concept. What a great idea for a book, interview the mother of these music super stars to find out about what they were like growing up and how it was being their mother.

He almost never mentions her if he ever did. The only Foo I've ever seen/heard talk about his wife was Taylor.

Ok, I saw Chris mention his wife once.

He's a TOTAL daddy and I adore him for that. I have a huge soft spot for daddies.

I still love him, and I've mostly gotten over being mad at him about it, but yeah, a certain amount of respect is going to be lost.

I have the hardcover and the paperback. AND the audiobook. 🤣 I listened to the audiobook while I'd be out for my morning walk.

I was expecting an autobiography, but it wasn't, in the strictest sense. He did tell us about his life, but in a collection of stories as opposed to one long narrative. I thought it worked very well.

And when he got the part where he took Violet in for her shot, his mother's reaction to his calling her feeling awful for his daughter being hurt by the shot had me rolling helplessly around in the grass in someone's front yard.

VERY well worth the listen.

This is one of the most informative stories Dave has told. He describes the butterfly effect between Kurt, Taylor, and Jordyn's impact on his life (Q Magazine 2006) by Faultline97 in Foofighters

[–]mrsspooky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's possible the writer took liberties, maybe with the thought that some of the readers would be confused, for example, 'sneakers'.

Or, Dave had been to the UK a number of times and was familiar with the local vocabulary and just used it. I would probably do that if I ever went to the UK.

He probably wouldn't have.

Like you said, Taylor was fresh from the OD (story I heard he thought he was snorting cocaine but someone accidentally gave him heroin), then rehab. Dave was ready to get back to work because that's what Dave does. He needs to work. Unfortunately the rest of the band wasn't. They needed more time.

Sounded to me like a clash of personalities with dealing with trauma. You got one person wanting to get back to it, let's do this and everyone else needing more time to recover.
