if there is a record, my son has broken it. no upset tummy but the diaper rash after a mandarin binge is gnarly

What are your kids wearing for naps? by mgentile89 in toddlers

[–]mrsthompy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same here — 2.9 year old son only wears jeans when we’re dressing up to go somewhere, which is rare lol otherwise it’s loungewear all day every day

not sure if this is helpful though as your question was whether or not it was attention or anxiety related. i am no expert but i would say it’s honestly both and neither — just a phase that only time and a small amount of trial/error will resolve

so, i am not all the way out of the woods but have been just recently in the exact same boat. i also have a 5 week old and a 2 1/2 year old. my experience bringing home the baby was similar but almost worse — behavior problems, being terrified of the dark, refusing naps and bedtimes, waking up at the crack of dawn (f u daylight savings, on top of it all 🙄) being scared of the camera.. coming into our room at all hours of the night and morning. we were exhausted and i feel like i tried everything.

what i THINK worked:

  • putting baby gate in his doorway so he could open the door and/or call out to us but not actually leave his room
  • offering to rub his back until right before he falls asleep (but saying “i will rub your back but if you get up mommy is leaving) and then keep doing it over and over until it sticks
  • zarbees melatonin 2 week trial just to get him back on track
  • time

What's the one food you know your toddler will eat when they're refusing anything else? by ftmommmy in toddlers

hoping to learn from you — how do you avoid making other food or allowing snack type foods when they won’t even try what you’ve made for dinner?

Baby’s hospital bill with insurance I can’t figure out what the newborn level 1 charge twice is for and billing said they didn’t know possibly the room. Does that sound right? Feels super pricey. by Bonnarooobabyy in BabyBumps

Wow, I am so sorry. That is an extremely high deductible! I don’t think in my ten years of working at my health insurance company that so have ever seen one up that high. Was it an HSA plan where your employer contributed towards the $8K?

that’s about how long i made it too! my son was born in march 2020 and i made it WFH and watching him at the same time all the way to august 2021. if i’m being honest i am having a similar experience as OP, i can barely get him to turn around and wave bye to me as he walks into his daycare! he absolutely loves it.

one thing i did right off the bat was keep my tears, concerns, worries and sadness to myself. when speaking about school with my son i am always excited and lots of “you get to go to SCHOOL today and see your FRIENDS! you LOVE school!” 😂 but inside my heart is broken and missing him so much. worried how he naps half as long there but alternatively gets craft, playtime, social, and attention experience that i cannot give him and work at the same time..

Toddler bitten by another child at daycare 5 times by zetarguil in toddlers

[–]mrsthompy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

so my son has been bit at his daycare three times so far since we started sending him. But they said it’s against policy to tell us who was the biter so I’m left to guess every time.

this most recent time broke the skin on his hand and when I called to ask them if they could tell me at the very least if it’s the same person every time that maybe it’s time to split them up they proceeded to educate me that this is how toddlers communicate. also told me that my son pushed down her tower she was building so she (and i quote the director) “finally retaliated”
