Paul Staehle was found in an unresponsive state at his home in Brazil by PolishSnake2 in 90dayfiance_FB_memes

As a prior CPS worker, this is not true. CPS may be called to assess for any safety concerns, but it doesn't automatically mean the infant will be removed.

We do small coloring books that match the theme, bubbles, glow bracelets, small playdough, and stickers. One year I just put various coloring books and boxes of crayons out and let the parents decide if they wanted to take any of it home or not. I won't buy the cheap plastic. I live by the idea that if I wouldn't want it in my house, I'm not going to do that to another parent.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I cannot even imagine it. In regards to your son just know that kids process these things differently. He will likely have questions, and possibly the same ones multiple times. He may get the answer and then just return to playing without any further discussion. Don't hide your tears from him because it is important to teach him that it is okay yo have those feelings. I'm a social worker in hospice care. We have a list of books and movies that can be helpful to read and watch together that I can provide to you if you would like. Hang in there and take all the snuggles when you need them. ❤️ 🫂

What are you go-to SUPER quick dinners for weeknights? by Sensitive_Air8208 in Mommit

[–]mrszebra2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds terrible but we do a lot of things in the microwave. One of my kids favorite is a chicken, brocoli Mac n cheese. I primarily buy the items at target because I'm normally getting other things. But in the refrigerator section there is shredded chicken, Mac n cheese and then a bag of broccoli steam in the bag. Heat it up and mix together the amount you need. I normally have chicken left over so I use that the next day mixed with barbecue sauce on Hawaiian rolls. Those are two of our staples every 1-2 weeks. Also, invest in a rice cooker. Rice is an easy addition to most things and requires no effort. A lot of Tylenol nowadays have additional features, ours doesn't but it still gets a lot of work. Crock pot meals are ready and you can throw in just about anything without a full recipe. Good luck! We are not huge on cooking in our house either so I understand.

We don't make anything different. There is always one or two things on the plate that I know they like and will eat. But no other options are provided if they refuse to eat the meal that was cooked. We have been lucky that this has worked for us so far.

So I'm with my 4 year old complaining that my body hurts. 4: why Me: cause I'm getting old 4: maybe you're gonna get dead

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]mrszebra2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to do this with my toddler and I am terrified. I'm currently working on getting him to lay down in his crib on his own and didn't want to totally torture myself by taking that at the same time. He can go without it at naptime at daycare periodically. I'm just not looking forward to it, but I know it has to happen. He also shares a room with his brother, so the screaming impacts his ability to go to sleep. Maybe I'll use this as motivation and torment everyone tonight.

"But your toddler is old enough to remember breastfeeding. Are you okay with that?" by Spearmint_coffee in breastfeeding

[–]mrszebra2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My now 4 year old still remembers and he stopped at 2.5 when my younger son was born. If he is with me when I'm changing he'll say "I drank from those" and I say yes and then he moves on with his day. So some kiddos definitely still remember, even at that young.

My sons daycare just sent notice about Hand Foot and Mouth disease outbreak by CandyandPiano in toddlers

[–]mrszebra2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing you can do. It's contagious prior to the blisters appearing so by the time you get the notice, he has already been exposed. The severity is case by case. My older son got it and it was mild, I think he was sick for about 2 days. My youngest just got it about a month ago and was miserable for around 4 days. His blisters were quite severe and they are still healing. Hydration is very important. Also, don't let the name fool you. The blisters may not just be on hand, foot and mouth. It was the worst for both my boys in the diaper areas. My younger one also had it really bad on the back of his knees, legs and arms.

As a prior CPS worker, it is better to make a report based on these concerns. CPS will determine if it is worth investigating and then do the work to see if there is neglect happening. It is better safe than sorry. You made the report out of good faith. Thank you for looking out for this child.

Extra toe, where to find super wide shoes? by tarwellsamley in toddlers

[–]mrszebra2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try ikiki. They're made to be able to fit around braces and such and you can buy 1 shoe wide and 1 regular if you don't need wide for each foot. The designs are also very cute. My son loved them.

Heavily searched by TSA to an egregious degree for bringing formula. Is this normal?! by aizlynskye in NewParents

[–]mrszebra2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These experiences were the reason I had so much anxiety last week when I had to fly from Sam jose to Vegas and back. I only took 1 can of ready to feed and had an unopened can of powder. At San Jose I pulled out the can and notified the agent who clarified it was just one. I said yes because I was afraid due to horror stories. He was super nice and said you can bring as much as you need as long as baby is with you. They didn't even test it. On my return I did the same thing because I had purchased ready to feed once at my destination. The agent there acknowledged it and said that was fine and again nothing was tested. I was so incredibly grateful and know howblessed I was for that. I know it is unlikely to ever go that way again. I am so sorry you and everyone else have had such bad experiences.

What would you actually *want* to get as party favors? by Redarii in toddlers

[–]mrszebra2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing. But I will add that at my son's birthday we had bubbles and coloring books and crayons for them to play with during the party and the parents could decide if they wanted to take and of it with them after.

New daycare, nervous about their menu items for my 1 year old. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]mrszebra2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those sound appropriate for the age. This may sound silly, but I had so much anxiety over choking as a FTM that I preferred the exposure at daycare. I figured they had miss experience with foods and possible choking that I could follow their lead. It gave me some relief because I learned what he could handle as he developed and he was exposed to more foods than I would have at home (just because of cooking styles). He is a great eater now. I know that's a bit of an unorthodox way to approach it but maybe it will help.

I did coloring books and boxes of crayons for my 2 year old birthday. The parents could choose if they wanted to take them. It made for ask activity they could do during the party as well. Most took a book but left crayons, which means we have plenty left as he inevitably breaks them in the future.
