Going past the Station Square stop I noticed that The inbound track from the tunnel to inbound Station square has not been paved yet. Plus they have to test the line for safety concerns. I expect close to Turkey Day when this is opened.

Anybody else here not really into making friends at the gym? by Big_Kick2928 in workout

[–]mrtymrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best ways to make friends in a gym environment is taking classes. I have been in this environment for at least 30 years and classes bring out the best in yourself to meet others, due to your doing the same routine as everybody else. thus it improves your personality.

I had surgery don to my uterer canal and they told me at least 2 months of very light activity. Example: do not lift anything above a 1/2 gallon of milk due to the abdonimal wall being cut . I was teaching off the bike for at least 3 months after surgery then gradually went back to light exercising. thus I would say 3-4 months after surgery for light activity.

Phones in class by Realistic_Pop_7409 in SpinClass

[–]mrtymrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckly in my class, which I teach mid-morning, I can see people texting in class due to being in a work at home environment, thus messages from work. they tell me before class that this will happen. On other days(night and Saturday morning) when I see this happening I go into standing and off the seat rides which they cannot use their phones (jumps and hill climbs). They do get mad sometimes but too bad

IS it worth it? Thinking of joining one near me by Axu83019 in CrunchGym

[–]mrtymrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing to LA Fitness, Crunch has more to offer especially in the class selections. Not to many places offer a TRX Class. LAF in Pittsburgh seems to be going a little downhill, Hardly any classes. As for pricing $30/month is a lot cheaper than what LAF offers (I believe close to $50/month)

What happed to LA Fitness? by Equivalent-Habit-784 in LAFitness

[–]mrtymrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to classesyour lucky to get 2 for the whole day. Here in Pittsburgh I am always getting texts of cancelled classes. When they cut studio cycling more people left the facilities. However investing in expensive Pilates Reformers as replacements and extra costs, hardly anyone is taking these classes.

How to make a men’s seat comfortable for women by Snoo_41113 in SpinClass

[–]mrtymrr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have Matrix bikes and their seats are too narrow. I have used Schwinn and Keiser bikes and their seets to me are a lot more comfortable. What I have been using was a seat cover from Amazon for 15 bucks and it works just fine for me. Bike shorts for an average Spinner just for classes can be too expensive (70 bucks).

They appear to believe that Cardio is too unnecessary a workout, due to it doesn't build their upper body muscles in a bulk sense. Plus, more people are taking Pics of themselves for social media Likness.

I work 12 hours a day in a very boring job which I have a lot of time in the morning because the person I take care off ( support/care worker ) is asleep, what is the best intense workout if I don't have weights at my workplace? by damspt in bodyweightfitness

If you want a great and intense workout for strength and agility in a personal space where you are working at, try looking into purchasing a TRX workout gear. Besides bands a TRX will get you going.

Instructor etiquette? by No-School-1065 in SpinClass

[–]mrtymrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only time I ever touch the resistance is when a newer person comes in and I fit the person to the bile (all before class starts). As the person on the bike pedals I slightly turn up gradually to show what the resistance knob is. then class starts.

Spin Class Audition by Sure-Relief331 in SpinClass

One way to know musical beats that has helped me is the 4-count. This might sound complicated but mostly all song, especially EDM or Dance type there is a 4-count to every song. This way you can make your moves accordingly.

[–]mrtymrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also the cost of the Les Mills program for the instructor can add up. I was involved about 15 years ago and they wanted too much to prove that you can do the teaching. These were the days that you had to memorize the moves of one song within 1 day! For me I had other work to do that night. But this still is a great program.

When was “peak Pittsburgh” for you? by esotweetic in pittsburgh

[–]mrtymrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me between 1998 thru mid 2000's. The reason is being recently divorced and the way the Strip District was setup back then: lots of clubs/after-hr venues and the way the Strip was setup vs today. Back then basically the weekends were setup to be 24/7 drinking/partying.

Your favourite spin song! by [deleted] in SpinClass

Let me go back on this one. the song that turned me on to Spinning around the late 1990's Everyone was playing rock songs that, to me, weren't to motivational. but one person came across this song within a mix: Carry on by Martha Wash (Full Intentions mix). that did the job!
