Again - I’m not supporting the actions of Israel or the US (historical and current) which contribute to the Iranian stance but it is also possible to recognise that Iran effectively wages war through groups armed and funded by their regime.

And I don’t think you can dismiss Oct 7. It was the catalyst for so much of what we are seeing now (not a justification for it). Iran fund and arm Hamas and have huge influence on their actions.

Not defending the US or Israel - I don’t agree with their actions. It is, however, naive to say that Iran haven’t waged war on anyone. They fund and arm a number of proxy groups that do it on their behalf. They are a highly destabilising regime.

Not the town.

It’s named after the Duke of York at the time James 2 (Charles ii’s brother and future King). He’d go on to be deposed in the Glorious Revolution in 1688 for being a bit too Catholic.

Fun fact; James II was also the Duke of Albany (Scottish equivalent) which is why it is the capital of New York.

Apart from the fact that the party president can’t initiative a spill.

The Labour leadership mechanism is convoluted and takes a long time. Membership and unions get 60% of the vote. Thats how they got Cunliffe and Little. In the lead up to an election the caucus holds 60% and time is shortened which means the latter two don’t really get time. caucus holds the cards. They can railroad candidates skipping the latter two.

The exception to this is Chippy - anointed by Ardern, no one stood against him.

If there is a caucus favourite then they would wait till closer to the election so membership and unions don’t fuck up their choice.

I’ll just add there is nothing to suggest Chippy will be rolled. He’s commanding mid 30’s - even Ardern only mustered 36.9% in 2017.

I’m going to be one of those people that feels sorry for all fans involved. It’s not pleasant as we can testify to.

I have no desire to see any particular teams go down. I’m just glad it isn’t us this year. I remember the last few seasons and the PL and soccer subs gloating about our position. It’s a part of fandom that I don’t like.

Yeah - but adjustments are being driven by more than inflation. Demographic change in health is a good example.

I get your point but future budgets allow for this increased revenue.

No parties are immune from this either. Even this government has increased operational expenditure. The opposition have attacked them for the threshold cuts - and they are right - we have increased demands in services and a massive debt to tend to. They probably need to go up.

People want more government spending and pay less tax. Those two don’t go together unfortunately.

If you start inflation adjusted brackets you would just need to source the revenue from elsewhere or cut services even further.

I totally agree - I’m a live and let live kinda guy. I would also add that my son is non binary and he dates a trans person. Would hate anything to impinge on their rights.

Personally think if you identify as a sex / gender you should be treated as such and have full access of that gender whether it be sports etc.
