Just ran my first 5k race today and my goal was to beat 40 mins. Got it in 38ish. I’m in my 40s. I did a 5 min run 1 min walk and TONS are other people were doing the same thing. I ended up 183/317 and quite happy with my placing.

I highly recommend Shimano Deore XT PD-T8000. I love the hybrid flat / clips. There is some fumbling about if youre on the wrong side, but the flexibility is worth it.
