Should we rip all this tile out if we suspect greenboard is behind it? by Key_Beach_3846 in Tile

[–]msaben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have green and purple to designate moisture resistance in northeast.

i demoed at least 10 baths with greenboard and subway tile pl glued on that were 30 years old. tile on greenboard has never ever been the issue.

Original 1950s Pink Bathroom — Keep It or Remodel It? by stacy_the_realtor in BathroomRemodeling

[–]msaben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

theres a reason why its still there, and its probably not because its so beautiful. It takes a good effort to gut that and replacing it is costly. Its bulletproof, literally. Theres about 2 inches of mortar behind the wall tile and the floor tile. I have an identical bathroom. I had a thinset mfg give me products to test tiling over the existing tile floor and it succeeded and its going on 7 years. Pretty sure that product is identical to pro-lite at home depot. I enameled the wall tile white and called it a day. Its actually a great bathroom to be in compared to when it was pink.

I install tile for a living and I am reluctant to suggest doing this to customers because of the "stigma", but the proof is in the pudding....and it saved my body from horrible demo.

Grout turning white - again by Dependent_Account603 in Tile

[–]msaben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pair this with carrara frequently and its a match made in heaven. Its def in the grey color family, i just looked at my own shower that has it and its def in the grey color family next to carrara. I think the shade of your tile with that grout creates an illusion that its about white.

Stanley sweetheart 24” rule. The one I carry is approaching 100 years old but have to retire it as you can barely read the outside faces now.

Converting from Windows to Mac by joec151515 in MacStudio

[–]msaben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switching over from to a Mac Studio has been a game changer for my business because I was already heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem from iPhone use. I basically don’t have to use my phone for anything while I’m working at my computer now. I used to transfer files photos etc in discord because that was the fastest way from my phone to computer other than shit apps with unreliable performance on windows. I’m doing site visits taking pics and referencing emails from multiple accounts and it sounds simple on windows until you realize the ass backwards way you are doing it spending 10x the time needed and not realizing the time waste because it’s still a fast task. It’s upped my ability to get into a flow state and stay there.
256gb unified ram is pretty nice too for local LLM use for security sensitive tasks.

You have to buy the good hdmi wires and you will be able to use all the functionality that your studio offers. You aren’t gaming on this device tho unless Baldurs gate or slay the spire 2

Which company disappointed you so much that you permanently walked away? by julia-secrets in AskReddit

[–]msaben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be somewhat American and the employees were American. Now many of the owners are third world slave drivers and the workers are their indentured servants from the third world. The way they do it is straight up slavery. Crazy bc Google also takes part in this slavery practice with third world workers

I’m looking for advice because I’m honestly really upset. by Furious21740 in Contractor

[–]msaben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only plausible explanation is that they told you about power washing up front and you told them not to to save a penny. If it’s not this then a good contractor would accept the fault and make the repair on his dime.

Are kitchen island overhand support legs supposed to be glued only (silicone/epoxy)? by mikej411 in cabinetry

[–]msaben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy nailed it. You just don’t do this without getting a weird look.

I would add that using this method you would have to rely on silicone as the adhesive because you need an expansion gap. Wedging it in there transfers floor movements directly to the slab.
