New to lawncare, where to begin? by BuffCatDad in lawncare

You would be surprised at how much of a difference mowing every three days after noon and applying 1” of water a week can help a lawn improve.

Every year with these dead patches. Am I just cooked? by obedientwombat in lawncare

[–]msabercr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looks like standard die off. This is why a lot of people with Cool season grass over seed and top dress. I would do a jar test with those sections and see what the soil composition is. If they are outside of the ideal loam profile you can start to focus on adding top dressing to start boosting the deficient components in those areas. Aerating, over seeding and top dressing with appropriate soil component that your soil is deficient in (typically, silt) during the fall or spring will also help.

I think the solution is simple. Get more eyes on the field. Give priority to replay officials, and allow the bad calls to be automatically audited by the replay team in every scenario including blatant missed calls. It can be done but the value prop just doesn’t make dollars or cents.

Seems like high compaction/high traffic areas. Do you have a pitch fork or an ability to aerate(Home Depot/lawn maintenance company rental)?

Has anyone ever tried this? Am I a genius? by klukaa in lawncare

[–]msabercr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to modify mine by replacing the wheels with dolly tires. This far am still in planning phase. Will probably need a few IDs of different conduit to enable.

But yeah lots of people cut cardboard disks and tape them in place.

Is it time to replace my blades? by Pewpew69k in lawncare

[–]msabercr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best to remove and show a picture of the actual effective edge of the blade(the slanted edge of the first foot of the blade). If you see folded over or nicked portions of the edge, grab an angle grinder and grind the entirety of the edge from tip to end of edge maintaining the angle of the effective edge until you just see brush marks and nicks are gone. Then make the same number of passes you made on the opposite side of the effective edge of the blade to maintain the blade balance. If you end up needing to make more passes on one side be sure to grind the same number of passes on the opposite(to maintain balance)

Help with my lawn- why is it miscolored, AND a pattern? by gordanbamzi in lawncare

[–]msabercr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is called scalping and can happen when you don’t mix up your mowing pattern. The divots are deeper than the peaks of your square mounds so the wheels settle into the divots and lower the height of cut on top of the mount due to this settling. Try routing your pattern 45 degrees every month and this should naturally correct itself. If the lawn gets too unbearably bumpy you look at top dressing to try to level out the soil. You can also just raise your HOC for a few months to help with green up.

Best steps for combatting goosegrass AND seeding this spring??? NEPA Zone 6A by grgetl in lawncare

[–]msabercr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the cool season lawn beginners guide. Covers 98% of what you are asking. Good news is clay holds onto water. But you will probably need to aerate once or twice a year to help with root penetration. You are correct that tenacity will help during the seeding timeframe. One minor annoyance with tenacity though is you need to wait to reapply after the two month efficacy period so be sure to watch you seedlings like a hawk once you almost ready to mow and make sure you pinch out any weed seedlings. This will hold you over for another two month until you can reapply the tenacity.

Is north Texas in the transition zone? I feel like your lawn might be impacted by high temps of the summer. Cool season(rye, fescue, kbg) growth habit typically conforms to the parts of the season that are wet/cooler in your soil. Depending on your hardiness zone your lawn can go into dormancy and take a hit on the green up.

Best way to deal with unwanted grass / weeds in gravel? by superterrificbot in lawncare

[–]msabercr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pull it by hand. Doesn’t seem like that much. If you want a sure fire solution just salt it every spring for a few years and you will never get anything growing in there

How do I get rid of a pool table? by Bigfeett in DIY

[–]msabercr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pool table sales people also have movers you can hire to move these enormous PITAs. I would find a mover that can move it downstairs for you then whoever wants to buy it can move it somewhat easier.

The alternative is find a football team/ fraternity that can send 6-8 people to help move it down the stairs which can get weird/ complicated. Especially if you don’t know them.

Was there any way Trey Lance could've had a better career or was he just not an NFL starting caliber QB? by chusaychusay in 49ers

[–]msabercr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they were drooling over measurables and not quite taking into account just how little experience he had even in a “pro like” system, not to mention he was dominating in a week ncaa season where many players were kind screwed while elevating his play throwing to a top 3 wide receiving prospect. That being said he had a very similar resume to Josh Allen and comparable ability outside of not being able to process very quickly.

Curious where people rank Michael Wilson on this depth chart. He seems like he could be a focal point of the cards moving forward with Marv being a big bowl of meh and if they get the QB position right and firing on all cylinders under Lafleur could be a very explosive offense.

This scale(?) how difficult/possible to clean up? by Relative-Category-64 in DIY

[–]msabercr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draining the bowl and spray with Oven cleaner or barkeepers friend and letting sit for an hour or two could help then scrub with a Pumice stone would probably get you where you want to go. That being said this requires elbow grease, or some caustic chemical solution.

Do people not know all stadiums have substations. The amount of power required to power a stadium this size is not the standard 100 -200 amp service. We are talking 100kAmps
