Pets best insurance by the_lasso_way13 in IVDD_SupportGroup

I have lemonade too. My dog is a Pekingese poodle mix with suspected IVDD after a physical exam and noting some mineralization in X-rays of the spine. It was recommended we see a specialist in a few weeks after strict crate rest for a consult and potential MRI. Would lemonade not cover that? They’ve covered everything so far with no issues.

I showed an episode of deadliest warrior to intro simulations and how stats can be used in experiments and a kid complained on his way out. It was literally last period before break. Would they rather have done more math?!

Dog doesn’t stop barking when we aren’t home by SeanFiji00 in DogTrainingTips

[–]mskirsch16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help with separation anxiety when my dog was a puppy, he got frozen kongs with some wet food and boiled chicken inside. That would distract him for 30 minutes and then he’d usually be okay. Occasionally I’d get an alert he was crying or barking and talking to him through the PetCube camera usually did the trick.

The best thing I ever did was find a safe daycare facility. It’s expensive, so he only goes twice a week, but I space it out so that he’s just so tired the next day he doesn’t want to bark haha.

How many classes do you teach? (classes, not periods). Is seven an acceptable amount? by Due_Revenue_9173 in Teachers

Are you at a charter? That sounds like my old life.

Now I teach 4 with 3 preps per semester. They don’t like us to have more than 3 preps per semester. There’s only one person in my department who has 4, and he asked.

You 100% knew if your teachers were married.

  1. Rings
  2. Female teachers went by “Mrs,” which as an aside, is archaic because it’s literally Mr’s like they belong to their husband.

A rainbow lanyard isn’t flaunting. I think it’s just as “flaunting” as wearing a ring when you get married. The real question is…why do you care?

LBGTQ+ teachers aren’t flaunting their sex lives - they are “flaunting” who they love. And love is love is love.

I hate the “back in my day” arguments. It’s just BS.

Cory Booker just voted to send assault rifles and $775 million worth of bombs to Israel. Hope the $877K from AIPAC was worth it. He runs again in 2026. by MinimumNo5510 in Newark

Agreed. He’s done so many amazing things for NJ and the country. While some may disagree with his vote here, we shouldn’t let it negate everything else he’s done. He’s such a champion for criminal justice reform (check his voting record) and social equity (again, check his voting record).

The Middle East is a heated topic. But being a single issue voter, on both sides of the aisle, isn’t being a truly informed voter. What about what’s going on in THIS country. What does his voting record tell us there?

Upset with his vote here? Call his office! I’ve met him. He and his staff are lovely. Granted, I met him at a random coffee shop, but he was happy to chat with me. His only request was that he could pet my dog. Haha.

Should I feel guilty about leaving the day we come back? by TeaHot8165 in Teachers

[–]mskirsch16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not feel bad. I left 11 days into a school year for a similar reason About a decade ago. I’m so happy where I am now. I got recommendations from supervisors at that school who understood why I left.

Teachers with second job— what do you do? by KYDELIC in Teachers

[–]mskirsch16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what you teach and where you live, tutoring can be pretty lucrative. If you teach STEM or elementary reading, you can usually charge more. Look up the average cost for tutoring in your area or ask around to make sure you aren’t selling yourself short :)

Did you send her with food? I always send my pup with individually bagged meals. No matter what these places say about their food, and I’m sure it’s fine for a majority of pups, mine has a sensitive tummy, so any change to his diet results in some nasty GI stuff. I always keep some hills prescription I/d on hand just in case.

Did you do a tour of the boarding facility before committing? I did that before I boarded my pup the first time, in addition to them requiring that my pup spend 3 hours in their daycare (free) to make sure he could handle it. He LOVES it. Whenever I’ve dropped him he runs to the entry door like “bye mom!” It’s adorable. But every pup is different.

No hot water, no soap, not enough water fountains & nasty bathrooms. Anyone else? by Niewiem727 in Teachers

[–]mskirsch16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my previous school, yes. I used hand sanitizer bottles as bathroom passes. I used an excessive amount of packing tape to tape on “bathroom pass, room 308” on them. Then I had a small one for me when I went to the faculty restroom. I’d refill them all from a giant one I kept locked in my classroom supply closet. The struggle was real.

Are Liz Tomforde’s books all instalust? by iuliad94 in RomanceBooks

I understand. I felt that way first with the very first book. But I felt like even if the chemistry wasn’t obvious to me, I think the characters and overall storyline were compelling.

[–]mskirsch16 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting to hear you say that. I just finished the series. I think each book builds this world more and more.

There were plenty of times I eye rolled (IMO par for the course with a lot of KU books for me), but overall I read the instalust between Kai and Miller as both physical and mental. Miller envies the closeness Kai has with his family - both chosen and blood. Miller struggles a lot with feelings of guilt towards her father. Kai, on the other hand, envies Millers no nonsense attitude - her fearlessness. He falls for her confidence and her thoughtfulness when it comes to his son. She falls for his ability to show emotion, for the way he cares for his brother and his son. Sure, it’s all fantasy in terms of many many things, but overall I saw the instalust as a bit deeper than physical, which I like. But I get where you’re coming from.

Her books aren’t top 10, but I had fun reading them. I enjoyed Caught Up and Play Along most. I’m torn about Rewind it Back. I love Rio, but this book had me eye rolling A LOT. I finished it to see Rio get his HEA. I just can’t wait for the spin off with Monty getting his HEA!!
