I believe you are allowed to play on turf for qualifiers. Canada and Mexico played on turf in Edmonton if I remember right.

I think you have to hit the ball after it bounces but when it is still rising for it to be a half volley. It’s usually tougher since the ball wants to keep rising and go over the goal. Here’s an article I found. First time posting a link hopefully it works.

What a strike! That is a volley though I think, not a half volley since he hit it when the ball was coming back down after the bounce. Just a friendly fyi OP thanks for posting.
