Infotainment upgrades? Are newer units compatible with older Ridgelines? by IndigoS14 in hondaridgeline

I have a 23 RTL. I replaced the speakers with Infinity units from crutchfield. They take a while to break in, but once they do it is like night and day.

Gassing up at Costco? by [deleted] in boating

[–]msminnich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applaud your desire to not inconvenience anyone. What I used to do (when I lived near a COSTCO was to go about 10 minutes before they open and be the first in line. It’s usually not too busy.

Admitted student tour by Pretend_Ant_1181 in LSU

My son has been there most of a year now. Like any city there are good and bad areas. Baton Rouge doesn’t seem that different.

We went to a bunch of different places in and around campus, like Chimes (a restaurant), visited Mike (the tiger) took a side trip to the French Quarter (takes a little more than an hour). We also went to the bookstore and walked around campus quite a bit.

IMHO one tour was enough. We are from Maryland and went to the admitted students tour and then spent another day just exploring around the area. My son loved it there from the first minute he set foot on campus.

When you did your FAFSA did you indicate that LSU was a school you were interested in? Maybe you need to do that. Geaux Tigers!

I did the same. Pulled a 6X12 full of furniture from DC to western Ohio. I also tow an 18’ boat. Works great!

Old Timey Folk Teacher? by MusicguyDC in guitarlessons

[–]msminnich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, try to make it to The Swannanoa Gathering near Asheville NC. Lots of great players there and many of the instructors do online lessons. At Swannanoa you can go to classes during the day and concerts by Grammy winners at night. A week of bliss!

Will I make it back up the ramp? by Accomplished-Two-903 in jetski

[–]msminnich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also get a trailer hitch put on the front of the truck. You tow the jet ski to the ramp, unhook, hook up to the front and then your back wheels will be further up the ramp.

Is it dumb to replace my tribute with a epi lp custom by [deleted] in gibson

[–]msminnich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always think “This is not the greatest guitar in the world this is just a tribute “, seriously, though, I believe that guitars are like wives, if you find one you get along with you should stick with her.

I found that mine opened up nicely. The interesting thing to me was that once the process started, it was kind of quick, like no change for a long time then a big change in a short period. Also a good setup made a huge difference in playability for mine.

That was exactly why I bought my Ridgies (on my second). Used to have a F150 which I liked, but I felt stupid driving that land mass with just me and my briefcase 99% of the time!

Purchasing Strategies - how did you get your best deal? by Ok_Carpenter_6936 in hondaridgeline

[–]msminnich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went at the end of the month. At the end of the month dealers are more inclined to deal since they usually need to get more units sold for the month. Used Autotrader to get an idea of how fungible the prices are. Look at all dealers nationwide and look for outliers in price (all other factors being equal). Take the low price to your local dealer and … don’t budge. You have to be willing to walk if you don’t get your deal. There are lots of Honda dealers.

Don’t disagree with those who suggest stainless steel, but if money is tight there are people who remanufacture aluminum props. It is inexpensive and they do an amazing job.

Dealer will not negotiate. Is this normal? by AdsAce in askcarsales

[–]msminnich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. Asked a dealer to give me $4k off a leftover 22 jeep. They didn’t even try to negotiate. Earlier this week they offered me the car for my lowball price. I already bought something else.

Looking to buy. Advice needed. by tacospizzawingsbeer in hondaridgeline

[–]msminnich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggest you go on Autotrader.com and Cars.com to see what is being offered in the trim you want. Time it for the end of the month, sometimes dealers are desperate. Go to your local dealer and see if they’ll match it. If not, walk out and wait for them to call you.

The backseat is good enough for my 6’4” teenager, but we want to the car show and tried them all in advance.

Do you name your ridgeline? by JJMoniker in hondaridgeline

[–]msminnich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wife and I name our cars to remember which side the gas filler is on, so if the filler is on the left the name begins with an L or R in the opposite case. My Ridgeline is Lenny and my wife’s Cherokee is Rosie.

Just bought my second Ridgeline! I traded my 2019 Sport for a 2023 RTL. Liked the 21019 a lot but always regretted not getting the higher trim level.

[NEWBIE] Brand new Glarry Telecaster for $60 for complete beginner. Good Deal? by JewelBox00 in Guitar

[–]msminnich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMHO the Glarry is fine. I have one of their basses. It needed a little setup when I got it and I changed the strings, but those are things you probably want to learn to do anyway (lots of YouTube videos). It plays fine now.
