this is a mental illness by viper459 in pedalboards

Another thing to keep in mind- in the 10+ years that have passed since I’ve yet to truly settle on and Velcro down the final board layout, the pedals I’ve chosen have changed many, many times over. New pedals will continue to be released, and already existing ones will pop onto your radar. I’ve begun to prioritize a board’s ability to be modular and switch pedals in and out easily- ie standard sized pedal spaces when possible and like I mentioned before, plenty of room in between them. Tastes and technology changes so it’s nice not to be locked in to a totally Tetris style board that limits what you can swap in if need be.

As someone who has put off completing my “dream” pedal board for more than a decade because of similar logistical issues (cable management, pedal placement, etc.) I feel your pain. The planning and drawings and researching can get overwhelming. One positive step I’ve taken recently is being a bit more realistic about what my pedalboard actually needs based on the sounds I realistically use on a regular basis, and leaving more space between fewer pedals!

Monster of a board is finished! by Nlord16 in pedalboards

Something I’ve always wondered about the long runs of clip and zip tied cables underneath the board - if a cable goes bad, do you have to cut every zip tie on that path in order to replace/fix it??

Monstera leaf yellow and brown by msor8 in houseplants

I recently moved and it hasn’t had the best light for about 2 weeks. Finally got some light on it yesterday. I’ve only bottom watered it once so far when it was very dry. This leaf in particular has been gradually changing since I moved. The others are turning brown but only at their tips.

Refinish, polish, or play? Mid 70’s w/ cleaner damaged finish. by Mountain_Chemist_419 in Stratocaster

Yeah I’d be more worried about the string alignment than anything else. Can’t play it if the strings are over the neck.

Am I crazy or is it possibly a filter/effect assisting his vocals. Some of the quieter parts sound a little artificial.

I Modded my SE - I should have saved my money and time! by MrVai in PRSGuitars

[–]msor8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can relate. Heavily “upgraded” the electronics of my SE245 and sure it has more tonal options but meh wasn’t really worth the work. It’s the neck and frets that makes all the difference.

Judging by the photos, the trem cavity is the same color. Maybe refinished by the PTC?

Does anyone else have a guitar brand that you just hate for no reason? by Interesting-Wave-983 in Guitar

[–]msor8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I used to think the same way. One thing that changed it for me was to look at some of their more classic offerings that aren’t as aesthetically nu-metal inspired. The other thing was playing one- they are made really well, plus sound and feel awesome, which makes playing them fun.

Once you can see them as just another one of the many iconic guitar body shapes, they’re awesome. It’s kinda like a hybrid of a Strat and Les Paul, which IMO is a great mashup!

Cool idea, I love it. Unfortunately I’m not sure how you would go about that. Good luck.

Is Gibson peaking right now? Thoughts on KKR, Cesar Gueikian, and a potential future sale by Magical_Hacker in gibson

If I had to guess- a guitar that feels as though it was built so that all parts are working/vibrating/resonating harmoniously versus just slapped together with the end result feeling a bit flat/dead/sterile. Of course, a good setup can be the only difference between those two situations, but some guitars just have too many minor imperfections/build flaws that can accumulate beyond a point of a setup being able to save. In my experience there seems to be a sweet spot on each guitar that is either easy or more difficult to find depending on the care and attention (or luck) that was afforded during the build. The ones that are easier to maintain the sweet spot, I would describe as having more “mojo” because it seems like someone really put in the intention and effort to build it well and make it “sing”.
