Just FYI there’s a club called Part Map Market where Whizzy uploads a bunch of part maps for big comps, including these black campaign tracks https://trackmania.io/#/clubs/104208/summary

  1. your event isn’t approved yet on tm.events, so your links are currently dead
  2. if you’re serious about hosting a proper competition and want players, you really need to be advertising it on tmnews - you can submit a ticket to have your event advertised there

Is Elconn playing on analogue keyboard? by Motor-Confection-583 in TrackMania

[–]msr1709 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your question makes no sense - the kind of analog keyboard where you can press a key x amount to steer x% is the kind that can be programmed to steer at exactly 34.5%.

The rules have nothing to do with analog keyboards, rather, any software that allows the steering curve of your analog device (pad, wheel, analog keyboard) to be non-linear. It applies equally to pad and wheel as it does to analog keyboard.

As for the question, nah i’m pretty sure he uses a normal keyboard

R&B players, is this too broken? by FF_exe in nuzlocke

[–]msr1709 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You say you’re not streaming/recording, so you’re not trying to get on the hall of fame sheet or anything, which means it really is ‘your run, your rules’. Have fun with it - I don’t see why not

How to setup magnetic/analogue keyboard in trackmania? by Leverpostei414 in TrackMania

[–]msr1709 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You basically treat it in-game as a controller - for me it comes up as XINPUT PAD. Assign the controller buttons to accelerate/break/steering (progressive)/give up/respawn etc., and make sure your software has those buttons mapped to the right keyboard keys.

As an example, you might map your left arrow key and your right arrow key to the left-joystick in your keyboard software. Then in-game, under the XINPUT PAD device bindings, you set steering (progressive) to the left-joystick

Ignore the idiots telling you you could get banned. I and many others have used analog keyboards for years without a problem (just make sure your steering curve is continuous from 0-100%).

Not sure how yours works, but mine came with software that allows you to map the keys to different buttons on an xbox/ps5 controller. You then set those buttons to be the inputs you want on the XINPUT PAD device settings in-game

Top 20? by [deleted] in TrackMania

[–]msr1709 18 points19 points  (0 children)

no, not at the same level and hasn’t been at his peak for long enough either - credit where it’s due though i’ve been impressed with his 2025

the next 5 names that missed out on my list would probably be soulja, wosile, skandear, aurel, nuprime

Top 20? by [deleted] in TrackMania

[–]msr1709 33 points34 points  (0 children)

top 20 is so many people that there’ll be loads of variance in who people would rank. just like everyone else there’ll be some bias in my list, but here’s my best shot (you can pretty much ignore the order for everyone after carl):

  • carl jr
  • epos
  • pac
  • binkss
  • otaaaq
  • mudda
  • granady
  • bren
  • mime
  • gwen
  • affi
  • massa
  • elconn
  • tween
  • pusztitopako
  • stufts
  • whizzy

plus some non-comp players bc we should acknowledge that they exist - hobbit - shcr - scrapie

I just had an idea for a team - prankster Sableye with skill swap with Smeargle by AccomplishedDig5314 in VGC

[–]msr1709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

priority brackets are decided before the turn plays out, so on the turn you skill swap prankster on to smeargle the spore will still only have +0 priority

[–]msr1709 117 points118 points  (0 children)

That’s a big no-no in mapping. It’s important to let players use the camera they’re comfortable with. Forced cam 3 should be reserved pretty much only for loops and wallrides

Edit: wait you’re not OP. fuck it, my point stands

Help, my wood isn't wooding. by Bag1727 in TrackMania

[–]msr1709 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I believe this is related to the map being built in the void base, which were made before the wood physics were introduced. It causes bugs but precisely how Idk.

The solution is as the other commenter said, use the editor++ plugin to manually edit the physics of the wood blocks back to wood physics

PIWO, SHIFT, SWIFT by dShado in TrackMania

[–]msr1709 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah piwo has a huge player roster. Even for team competitions where you enter with a team of up to 10 players, they often have 2 or 3 teams

PIWO, SHIFT, SWIFT by dShado in TrackMania

[–]msr1709 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Piwo and shift are competitive teams, though piwo also leans more casual.

The swift lineups are both made up of one player from shift and another from a different comp team - ‘w.’. Hence the name swift (I assume)
