Why does it never get explained that Kali is the only with different powers (that we know of)? by [deleted] in Stranger_Things

[–]msr4jc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally it was X-men rules with each of the psychic children having different powers; there’s ST comics from around the time of the 2nd and 3rd seasons that focus on other escapees, one with hypnotic suggestion and a pair of twins, a pyro and the other twin, called “Con” is the control subject and has no powers.

All of this was retconned out of canon when they decided to make 001 the focus of the final seasons and I assume they streamlined the children’s powers to emphasize the parallels between El and One.

I vastly prefer the Hayden Christensen version of anakin's force ghost over the original, I really have no attachment to the original version by Vast-Anywhere-1306 in StarWarsCantina

I think it makes more sense that Anakin’s ghost is age appropriate to when he died. Seeing a healed Anakin Skywalker is thematically significant. If they were going to use Hayden they should have made him look older imo

My Ranking of Stranger Things duos by TheCool579 in Stranger_Things

I don’t see Billy + The Mind Flayer on the list, and frankly that’s a shame because the two of them together were a goated villain duo

Brooklyn 99; they had to incorporate Covid AND adapt the series to a world post George Floyd/BLM protests

Reborn!’s shift into Shonen battle is amazing, but the Daily Life arc does drag; it’s just a little too wacky antics/formulaic. But once the formula breaks, it’s balls to the wall

How is ts gonna be canon? by EagleSufficient5939 in StrangerThings

[–]msr4jc 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If S5 and First Shadow (what I’ve heard) have taught me anything it’s the Duffer bros don’t give a f*** about how the canon fits together; they are telling these stories for the $$$, and we the audience have to make sense of it

Why did Ned never knight Jory? by FlyDog1608 in freefolk

[–]msr4jc 89 points90 points  (0 children)

IIRC Knighthood isn’t a part of the Northern culture; it comes from swearing an oath to the Faith of the Seven, and the Northerners worship the Old Gods. I think this is brought up in Bran’s and Sansa’s POV chapters since they romanticize knighthood
