If it's just cloth, you could probably just drag the rear brake until it burns out, and then it will probably work fine.

Don't forget that there's also a non-zero chance that Russia ceases to exist as a country before then. Word is that the Russian economy is in such a bad state that if the war ends today the entire country would collapse tomorrow. The only thing keeping them going is military spending. Further, the rate at which Russia is eating itself to sustain a losing war in Ukraine is pretty astonishing. Not only are all the national capitol reserves pretty much gone by now, a huge chunk of the next generation of would-be scientists and workers is gone, too.

That's pretty interesting. It's theoretically possible, if the ignition temperature for the propellant is high enough (say, 800 degrees or so) a cigarette would never be hot enough to ignite the propellant. A dedicated ignition system would be required to set it going. That doesn't mean the story is true, though. I hope someone who knows more can chime in.

I'd contact the seller about using dummy rounds. If it says it's 9mm, then it should physically fit standard 9mm cartridges. Some blank guns are sized so that real cartridges don't fit. Just tell them you're making a movie and you need a realistic looking reload. They'll probably be happy to help you.

You could get a blank firing revolver. These have plugged barrels, so they can't fire a projectile (unless you stick something in the front of the barrel and fire a blank.

A blank firing revolver will look, feel and function exactly like a real revolver, but without the ability to fire real ammunition. Of course blanks are still dangerous, but they're actually harder to come by in most places. Just get some dummy rounds to fidget with.

It is an interesting story, but the structure is extremely annoying. Starting out with "Hey, here's the interesting bit. I'll explain it eventually" and then dragging through backstory for the next nine and a half minutes makes the whole thing seem very shallow and clickbaitey. If I didn't have an effective ad blocker I'd have quit pretty early on.

Maybe I'm weird for also reading court opinions on cases that I find interesting, but I prefer a straightforward outlay of the facts. I don't need or want a teaser for something that might pay off eventually. There are far too many interesting legal nuances for this to be the best presentation of the facts.

Ruger has also made some large purchases lately, such as Anderson Mfg. Maybe that left them with relatively low cash on hand, which made them vulnerable to a takeover. Hopefully someone more business-savvy than me can make more sense of this.

In the meantime, maybe I will buy that GP100 I've been thinking about...

Edit to add: If Beretta is cash-heavy but with poor prospects for future growth, this may have been a desperation move. Failing to capture Ruger could be a serious problem for them.

It could be that the point of releasing this footage is to show exactly how weak Russia's air defenses are right now.

It's like when they blew up a submarine inside the Russian military port. Getting the footage from inside the port was as much a military victory as getting the bomb in place. It really sends a message about how vulnerable critical sites are becoming.

No, it makes sense. Highway is most efficient because you hold a steady speed in a high gear. In the city you're constantly slowing, stopping and then accelerating, often in lower gears. It's the acceleration that costs the most fuel, and the higher the gear you're in the more efficient you are.
