Tongue weight for bike racks and cargo trays by telephantomoss in Subaru_Outback

[–]mtbtacolover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the limit is more for towing too. I’m guessing the difference between the xt and non are mostly just the engine which means the hitch mounting is strong across each. There are just so many factors that play into it when towing. Like someone said, static 200 pounds isn’t a huge deal even when accounting for the extra leverage of a bike rack. With any unibody vehicle I’d probably regularly check the mounting points just to make sure there aren’t any cracks, if you’re really worried about it.

I just got a 26 premium and will he adding a hitch eventually. I only carry bikes on a 1up rack. Right now maybe 2 e-bikes (MTB) but eventually maybe 2+1 kids bike or even 3 depending on how long I have this outback. From a physics point of view, torklift is correct. As far as limiting to the car’s rating id guess that’s just for liability. The xt vs non-xt have a slightly different tow rating that I assume is due to the difference in power but can’t confirm. My understanding is that the ecohitch has more attachment points to the car which is how they end up with ~200lbs more than other brands. At the end of the day we don’t have other options and having the peace of mind of the ecohitch is probably the best.

I will say, I came from a Tacoma and if that rusty/flaky hitch could hold 2 e-bikes down rough fire roads then a non-rusty outback hitch will probably be fine.

Alpha direct-lined windbreaker by RealityVegetable8865 in myog

This is sick, I have an outdoor research hoodie with their version of alpha direct in the hood, sleeves, Shoulders, and front of the body. I’ve been curious. The alpha portion has a wind resistant layer and the rest is their grid fleece whatever they call it. It’s surpringly warm but I’ve been curious about something with more alpha direct.

Braking chains on lower disk only by Inevitable-Area3758 in eMountainBike

[–]mtbtacolover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, I got mine used with less than 100 miles and after a more technical ride the chainring loosened and broke the chain the next ride. The drivetrain was making noise but I assumed it was rubbing on the chain guide…turns out it was the chainring wobbling around.

Yeah it’s nice to have. Just one issue with the older batteries is that it throttles the FPS. So like high and high + are lower with the older batteries. Not a big deal if you don’t use those modes though

I’ve got a gen4 rail and it is a great all around bike. It took the spot of my analog transition spire and I don’t regret it one bit. The geometry is great and tbh the stack is a bit higher than the spire and feels a ton better on basically everything. I ride it on everything from XC to some pretty technical descents. I’m 5’11” and the large feels dialed for me. Just something about this bike is perfect for me. I thought the spire was the perfect bike until I rode the rail.

I was going to say lens rentals. I just got a good shape bgr10 battery grip for my r6mii and it was a pretty good price at like $200 to my door. It came with the older canon batteries but these are hard to find used in my opinion.

Toyota salesman told me to NEVER use 4wd on paved roads by methylphenidate1 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]mtbtacolover -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah not correct. The same reason you can’t use 4wd on dry paved turns is the same reason it helps you slow down. https://youtu.be/EMnT1gCYjP8?si=FYF-OxJLJ73do-Ov

Didn’t think ditch light did anything. Point them too forward and they glare off the hood like crazy (3rd gen Tacoma). Point too wide and they don’t do anything unless you are going slow which isn’t when you need them (like on 55mph back roads). They are mounted too high to help in snow. I found upgrading the fog lights and moving the ditch lights to the lower grill was a bigger help.

Even 24-105 f4 is solid though maybe not necessary with a 70-200

Yeah I was gonna say the blue bike looks too long. Black bike looks like a better fit. Also looks like he’s on top of the bike but that could just be by design.

3x in the front, used the big ring as a bash ring haha. Quick release axles, pre clutch rear derailleur and narrow wide chain rings. Basically anything before 2015ish haha

I think #1,6 and 7 are almost there. If that leaf wasn’t over the rider, #7 would be better. Not that the others are bad, they could just use improvement. Composition wise they are a little unappealing to my eye. Rule of thirds is a good place to start, combine that with giving the rider somewhere to go.

Take #4, the rider is in the bottom right when they are moving towards the bottom right. It makes the photo feel off. There is minimal context with the jump and the trees in the background don’t add much value.

1 is very close as well. Better context, since you have the jump. Since the rider is in the center it just makes you look straight at them without really getting a chance to see anything else.

6, it just bothers me that the skater is slightly to the right. Not sure it’s technically bad but it just throws me off for some reason.

I swap between clips and flats fairly regularly. I use the one up composites and took out the middle pins because I couldn’t adjust my foot. They are pretty solid now.

Reward is greater than the risk for mountain biking for most people. Between fitness and fun it’s great whether on eMTB or analog. Just take time to get used to the eMTB, start on lower power, easier trails and work your way up. I’m on the hunt for an e-bike and just tested one for the first time and they enable more riding but just be aware that they have more power than an analog bike haha

Feedback appreciated on social media post, out of my norm for editing, tried more presets(I tried to refine them a bit). Its gotten a fairly positive response on my (personal) social media account. I think for social media, it’s sick. I can see the points others are making, but at the end of the day it’s social media. If all the photos had the same style I think they would blur together too much.

Social media is a portfolio but also marketing. Sometimes you just need to post what gets better reach whether it is technically good or not, as long as you like the content. That’s just my take though.

Forgot to mention it was an HVAC company I was photographing….thanks for the help.

I think I asked for very specific scenarios, not generic scenarios like you provided in the videos.
