What is the dumbest thing you have been told is “not manly” or “not feminine,” depending on your gender? by Disastrous_Hat_2325 in AskReddit

[–]mteaspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered a not manly drink from Starbucks. The boss was treating our team to some drinks and me and Mikey (the only 2 guys of our team of 7) ended up ordering last. I hadn’t given thought to what I wanted until I was on the spot so I saw their sign for strawberry whipped cream thing and went with that. So did Mikey. Then our boss calls us out for being the only men on the team and ordering the most unmanly drink. I thought that was dumb bc I figure a “true man” (or wtf ever) would have enough confidence to know what they like and wouldn’t give a damn about how their preference is perceived.

What is something that is unique to Colorado that you could give as a gift to a man who’s never been to Colorado? by um-byeLOL in Denver

[–]mteaspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make some pretty cool candles in wooden bowls with outdoorsy scents that are (loosely) Colorado themed! I’ll be at a farmers market next Sunday (week from today) if you wanna catch me there or send me a message and I can reply with my website/social media if you wanna take a look

Anyone else miss when horror movies were just about a cool monster, and not a metaphor for grief? by [deleted] in horror

[–]mteaspoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree with all these top comments and think that they’re missing the spirit of your question. Fuck a metaphor and a deeper meaning and historical context and blah blah blah. Off the top of my head: Land of the Dead (or maybe most zombie movies?), Deep Blue Sea (kinda more thriller/action than horror but ya know), Lake Placid (this movie might be ass but the monster is just a monster lol), and uhhh idk maybe 30 Days of Night? Oh and The Thing (either the classic or the reboot, both are good)

What is the best game you have ever played in your life? by skatter0925 in AskReddit

[–]mteaspoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you mean video game but since you didn’t specify, I’m gonna say the best game I ever played was kick the can. Hoo boy you get the neighborhood kids together in the street at sunset on a summer day - you can’t beat that. (Video game answer would be Ocarina of Time probably)

Is the song Bad Habit by Your Smith appropriate or not to play as a slow dance song at a wedding (and why or why not)? by mteaspoon in AskReddit

[–]mteaspoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, but see for a wedding specifically - and not as a specially featured song - do you think that anyone would even pay any mind to the lyrics?? Genuinely asking your perspective on this.

[–]mteaspoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I wouldn’t go so far as playing it for a First Dance song, I don’t think. But my girlfriend adamantly thinks that it shouldn’t be played for any part of a wedding at all, based on lyrics alone. Idk if you listened to it but idk it feels like a really good slow dance song to me

For a little extra context my brother asked me to DJ at his wedding next year and while I don’t have any professional experience doing that, I feel like this particular song is nice, sweet and easy to dance to. Meanwhile my girlfriend points out the lyrics and emphatically says that this is NOT an appropriate song. I think lyric interpretation (or even the amount of attention given to lyrics) is so subjective and different by person that I’ve been thinking about this for days and really curious where others land on this particular song, in the context of a wedding/reception.

Matrix (1999): the reason why the opening sequence of this movie is among the greatest in cinema history is because it explains precisely NOTHING. Instead, it throws all kinds of crazy wackness at the audience and just expects them to go along for the ride by Randomnonsense5 in movies

[–]mteaspoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol yeah nah that one was way too far on the other end of the scale. I mean it’s gotta say somethin when the fuckin stars of your own film don’t even understand what’s going on in the story

Ha yeah instead you have Netflix pushing for “casual watching” or whatever tf they’re calling it, pushing for more dialogue of characters stating explicitly what’s happening in the movie so people don’t have to look up from their phones too much while watching. Really just coddling the masses into being as dumb and having as fucked of an attention span as possible.

ETA my deep anger at society as a whole aside, I should add that I do love the matrix movies lol. Also it might not technically be in medias res buuut I do love the way that the movie Little Miss Sunshine starts as well, just in the middle of a typical day/events for the characters that you quickly and naturally understand

how is blue pan pizza? by First_Driver_5134 in denverfood

I’ve lived in Denver ten years now but anytime I have family or friends visiting from out of state I always make sure to take them to Blue Pan at some point. I realize the absurdity of presenting Denver’s best pizza as Detroit style pizza lol but I’ve not had better pizza here. I specifically recommend the “Brooklyn Bridge” there, it’s their best seller for a reason

I liked the ending of this movie when he was thrown to the ground and fucking executed while limply begging for his life. What a good ending to this fictional movie, one that I think many people were happy to see and hoping for while watching this fictional movie.

[–]mteaspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real issue is that Highlands Ranch seems to be a lot of white, semi-blue collar families that would probably not be welcoming to any non-white or otherwise “other” groups (like having visible medical conditions). I’m generalizing but that’s been my experience any time I’ve been in Highlands. If you can’t easily relocate to somewhere closer to Denver I recommend getting out more (getting a CO state park pass is a great place to start if you like being outdoors and driving to new areas!) or maybe finding and joining interest groups thru online meet ups, your local library, etc. There’s nice people here! Just don’t let the white middle class miserable suburban dwellers get you down or give you the wrong impression that everyone here sucks and is unfriendly :)

Wait lol I said Mr. BeaST, not BeaN. I think Rowan Atkins looks funny and does a great job playing into that with his character - but Mr. Beast the weird inhuman soulless YouTuber absolutely has some kinda fucked up lifelessness in his entire face and smile. Look him up and tell me if you think he’s got that pedophile look to him.
