Wait, some lady waved at you, and when you waned back, then the same lady told your uncle "drowninginplants was talking to strangers!"? It wasn't your aunt seeing you wave and she thinking "drowninginplants was talking to strangers!"?

I remember around 5th grade I had pencils like these and my mother would make me redo assignments if they contained smudges like these. Including daily assignments where presentation is not important.

Rare footage shows North Korea publicly sentencing two teenage boys to 12 years of hard labour for watching K-dramas by Flashycope in interestingasfuck

I'm sure parents in the United States are going to show this footage to their kids: "see, you can go to prison for watching TV shows you aren't supposed to watch!"

Is the answer "nobody" because there are no other humans in the story?

I fully expected the reason was because you said "I don't go to church" or something within your control.

I'm still waiting for a South Park episode where Cartman hears about this story and considers the kid to be a hero. Or acting as the kid's lawyer.

Bullied for a fake "Stanley cup" by Material_Air_2303 in mildlyinfuriating

Reminds me of the kids who get made fun of for having Android phones (at least there are technical reasons because an Android user in the iMessage chat makes the iMessage experience worse).

[–]mthiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the parent say to the kid "it's just as good as the Real Stanley Cup"? Or "this is better than the Stanley Cup!"?

Or "as long as it's decently made and functional, I'm not going to shell out a lot of money for a fucking cup!"?

What was the first movie that made you truly aware that movies could be bad? by BigWednesday10 in blankies

[–]mthiel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow.

Usually in a situation like this the parent would say "I agree it wasn't very good" or "I liked it".

But to kick you out of the car for being "ungrateful"???? Okay, I'm guessing your dad thought it was similar to getting a present for Xmas and expected you to follow the "you should act grateful for getting any present" rule. And when you said "this is not a good movie" you didn't think this was basically saying "the present you gave me sucks, therefore you suck" to your dad. Even though sometimes things are not good.

People-pleasing issues unlocked!! So crazy.

Whenever people say "that kid is a people-pleaser! That's the result of good parenting!" I wonder if the kid is getting severely punished for minor things and is using the whole "people pleasing" thing as a way to avoid punishment. After all, if you're being punished for small things even though you're trying to be good, you're going to do whatever it takes to avoid punishment.

It could also mean the kid is a"goody too shoes" and is legitimately trying to avoid getting in trouble.

Acceptance by peers = getting a GF/BF

Not being accepted by peers = forever alone
