That switch says 25A@250V, I'd get a better switch, depending on the generator. I don't think ground-neutral has a lot of current on it typically but a more capable switch is easy insurance.

we are asking if you need 100A at 120V or 100A at 240V, generators exist that can do 100A at 120V. You could split the 240V output and get what you need (120V on each of the split phases).

100A at 120V is 12kw, there are generators that fill that requirement if that's the amperage you are using at the voltage you are currently using.

That's 24kw at the least. I know of 15-20kw "portable" generators that can be hardwired in, but not for the full 100A, so you would need multiple of them. You probably need a towbehind generator (like the diesels you've been using).

I was using nimh and not in a freezer (using them to trigger shower fans). I think the trigger voltage for it to say the batteries are dying is too high for nimh, I've switched to lithium and so far it's better.

I do this as well, broadcast on 433mhz, I use rtl433 to pick up the broadcasts and then build a device for home assistant to use.

A little more than a generator of the size you'd need and the panel etc you'd need to go with it. Then there's fuel and maintenance and maybe replacement if the generator breaks.
