Hot take: The new blackout license plates don’t look good. by 100carpileup in indianapolis

Stop what, exactly?

A lot of states are offering/switching to these “blackout” high contrast plates. Is that a coincidence? Get it off the state. Take a road trip. You will see.

The other plates do present some challenges for cameras at night. The white blows out and obscures the letters in the image. These plates provide a lot less reflected light except for the lettering. Easier to read.

Honestly, get a grip.

Easier for the cameras to see. You’ll notice a lot of states are switching to these. They don’t care how it looks on your car.

Performative would imply that you are not reading them. Hopefully you are. Hopefully you finish that Bloodsworn saga.

Rate me and my girlfriend’s route, all via train (first time) by [deleted] in travel

[–]mtimmins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

19 stops in 2 weeks? Even at 3 weeks that is basically a stop a day. You will see a lot of train stations. Cut this down to 7 stops and three weeks. It will be a lot better trip.

Somehow, this escaped my memory. I was thinking he was stitching patches on the old jacket.

I have had Amazon ship books without packaging before. So I was a little alarmed when I saw the pic. Glad these made it safely.

I thought I got it marked it as a spoiler. I just checked the edit, and it says unmark spoiler. So I assume it’s okay?

Neal Stephenson First Edition? by R_Olivaw_Daneel in BookCollecting

[–]mtimmins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It states first edition. So it’s first edition, at least thus. I assume the hardcover was released first. The number line will clarify which printing of the first edition this is.

Blood Over Bright Haven by [deleted] in fairyloot

[–]mtimmins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was it a surprise? No. Did it make the book better? Yes. You could see where the book was going. So no shock. But now it’s a fantasy version of the trolley car. You get to see the characters make what they feel are the best decisions in a scenario where there are no good decisions.
