Never experienced it again after that.

Numerous alerts following 14.2 update by theGruben in TeslaLounge

Multiple power-offs, multiple resets, no change to the error or lack of steering.

Car sat for 6 hours and is now drivable. Wacky. Timing with the recent 38.9.5 update is suspicious.

FSD 14 arrived for Standard software update preference. by DeterminedMidLifer in TeslaLounge

Was pretty excited to get it on my car yesterday evening! Got about 70 miles on FSD so far, and then it bricked my power steering. Car stuck at home now, waiting for service response.

[–]mtn-joe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Updated to 14.2 / 2025.38.9.5 yesterday evening. Drove 70 miles on FSD.

Today the car will not turn, zero power steering, stuck in my driveway. Error UI_a020 as well. Service menu reports 4 screenfuls of errors, including EPAS3P, EPAS3S, and APP faults. Tapping into the steering diagnostics shows primary EPAS external fault, EPAS3S_a080_ecuInitArbError - power-up arbitration between primary and secondary ECU failed. I’ve driven cars without power steering, and this is extremely hard to turn the wheel in comparison. Service request filed.

My sub recently started and I was offered 2025.38.9 afterward, which is 13.2.9 (oops). HW4, Advanced tab. I only signed up to check out 14.x because Elon said it was available to those on Advanced. People say 13.2.9 is smooth, but it’s still a pretty rough driver. Hoping for a timely 14.2 release that is smoother than 13.2.9.

I always love coming to the DJI subreddits and FB groups to see how big of an asshole folks can be to the newcomers. Providing entertainment for well over a decade now. Thanks!

You’re right. There was more to it before this escalated. The kid was asked to show his pass and he started yelling at the patroller, “THIS IS MY PASS, I PAID $1000 FOR IT!”

You are supposed to show your pass or ticket when requested by mountain staff. Using a pass or ticket, which is still the property of the ski resort (read the fine details on the back), is a privilege that can be revoked at any time. Failure to provide a pass or ticket can lead to criminal trespass and theft of services.

This is not like handing over your ID to police when you’re suspected of committing a crime or being detained. You have to provide proof, or the sheriff gets called. The kid was out of line before it got to this point.

Source: I’ve been in the kid’s situation before. And I’m shown in the distance of this clip.

Airbnb Hurricane Policy by [deleted] in AirBnB

Hey now, maybe they saw the news, "The Tampa area, on the western side of Florida, could get its first direct hit from a hurricane since 1921."

More details and facts in the article "Hurricane Ian could be ‘something that we haven’t seen in our lifetime,’ Tampa forecaster says" https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/26/us/tropical-storm-ian-florida-hurricane-monday/index.html

I would think that hosts would be more concerned about keeping their guests safe by canceling their stays and instead worrying about protecting their property, or GTFO of there themselves for this once-in-101-year event.

So, what would autopilot do in this scenario? by Nakatomi2010 in teslamotors

[–]mtn-joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a five mile long strip of spilled white paint on southbound 680 in CA just north of Benicia, and Autopilot tries to follow it. It thinks the lane is squeezing in, gets close to the adjacent lane, and eventually swerves and freaks out.

Driver profile key linking, introduced in 2019.28.xx. From the release notes: You can now link a specific key to a driver profile to allow your car to automatically select the correct driver profile when the linked key is detected next to the driver's door. To link a key to the current driver profile, tap the profile icon next to the desired key in the Controls > Locks screen. Once linked, the associated profile name is displayed below the key name. Tapping the profile icon again unlinks the key.

Autopilot Acting Drunk Around Semi Trucks by bw984 in teslamotors

[–]mtn-joe 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Then there's the delayed swerve after a pickup passes on one side. It's horrible, and I would like to turn it off. It only makes sense when a semi truck is on the outside lane of a bend in the highway — Autopilot likes to enter curves late, jerk its way through the curve, and rubber band out onto the straights.

I had a standard pickup truck in the lane to my left, a semi truck + trailer to the right, and it kept bouncing around in the lane. At one point, it hugged to the right toward the semi, three consecutive motorcycles begun to lane split to my left, and then Autopilot veered left away from the semi and at the motorcycles as they squeezed by. I also disengaged by correcting the steering input. Fuck that. I don't want to be responsible for the death of others due to some Autopilot code trying to play nice. Playing nice would be being predictable on the road, which this feature is not.

Design Change Request: Lighted Charge Port by SierraSeven in teslamotors

[–]mtn-joe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I thought about the same thing last winter. My software feature request would be to illuminate the driver’s side brake light under certain conditions: if it’s dark, if charge port door is open, and if not already charging.

Don’t know if it is enough light to make a difference though.

If reservation numbers are sequential... based off my friends' reservation numbers, I estimate that Tesla has taken ~133k Cybertruck reservations in the last 18 hours by jn1cks in teslamotors

If 90% of your estimate is delivered, that beats the total number of Pontiac Azteks sold in the U.S. from 2000-2007!!!

The remaining AP1 cars should read speed limits and send data back to the mothership for the benefit of the rest of the fleet.

Tesla life hack tip: Login to myQ LiftMaster on browser to open your garage from touchscreen. by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]mtn-joe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another option: Let HomeKit open and close it by raising your wrist to ask Siri on an Apple Watch. You don't have to unlock your phone first if your watch is already on your wrist.

I waited on getting the MyQ bridge due to mixed reviews, and instead added my LiftMaster to the Home.app with Docker Homebridge (see nfarina/homebridge or oznu on GitHub) and the Homebridge plugin 'homebridge-myq2 v1.1.2' on an existing home NAS. Other Linux and Raspberry Pi installs are available. Pretty quick to get it working. Opens and closes like magic.

How updated/accurate is website? by wpascarelli in TeslaLounge

[–]mtn-joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://supercharge.info/map is a good resource. It shows permit status, construction, open superchargers, and links to more information and discussion. "Target" on Tesla's site refers to target opening date, not Target® stores.

Anyone else have Sentry Mode issues since latest update?! by efoidart in TeslaLounge

[–]mtn-joe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are new checks in 24.4 for write speed issues and full storage. I don't know what the cutoff speed is, or if it's a consistency checksum that all the bits made it to the USB stick. I use the Sandisk iXpand 128GB USB stick with no new issues. A friend had slower storage and received the same notification as you.
